More Dead People Surface on Petitions in Lake County

What is it with some Lake County Democrats who simply can't seem to keep the dead from rising to sign their petitions? As TA regulars know, State Senator Terry Link has been dealing for months with the fallout from accusations that his nominating petitions contained both falsified names of the living and those of the simply deceased. Just last week, one of Link's campaign workers pleaded guilty to numerous counts of perjury in a plea bargain. The state appellate prosecutor, for some reason, bent over backwards to make sure the press knew that he thought Link was not involved in the actual crime. But more on that another day, perhaps.

The story for today, however, is that more allegedly falsified names and dead folks have appeared on the nominating petitions of yet another Lake County Democrat; this time, it's Antioch Township Assessor candidate Eugene Kryczka. As reported by the News-Sun, incumbent Antioch Township Assessor Heather Kufalk-Marotta noticed the names of several people she knew to be deceased, along with numerous signatures that she felt were obviously fake. She has turned the evidence over to the Lake County State's Attorney.

TA heard about this over the weekend, and understands that State Senator Michael Bond is the prime force behind Kryczka's candidacy, as he continues his behind-the-scenes political empire building in Lake County. For anyone who wasn't aware, Bond was very evident in the last round of elections as the force behind many of the county board challengers (and fairly nasty about it to boot, TA hears). Bond reads from the same playbook as his political godfather, Terry Link, which is basically to build up political capital by helping lower-level politicians into office that he thinks will be beholden to him in the future.

TA also hears that the alleged attempts at fabricating the signatures were not even done as well as they were done in Link's case. Sad, sad, sad.

The article did not mention if the State Appellate Prosecutor has already cleared Terry Link of any wrongdoing, but if we're lucky, he won't get the case and Michael Waller will investigate.

And this comes as a surprise? The Democrats still overwhelmingly supported Terry Link as their party chairman despite HIS submission of 2700 signatures that consisted of dead people, forged signatures and signatures in alphabetical order.

The Appellate Defender in this case, never considered the Candidate (Terry Link) in any way culpable of submitting the signatures to the State Board of Election.

The Appellate Defender basically defended the Candidate and worked against the rule of law. When the Candidate, Senator Link, filed his statement of candidacy, he accepted his signatures (in alpha order) knowing that a Democrat-controlled State would never challenge him.

Too bad the media is afraid to take action and challenge the Appellate Defender....

FYI, it's the appellate prosecutor, not the defender. The appellate prosecutor was brought in by Mike Waller due to the political sensitivity of the issue, so that Waller could not be accused of railroading Link or his minions. Strangely, the appellate prosecutor seemed more zealous in stating that Link was not involved than he was in fully investigating the criminal activity regardless of where it led. Prosecutors are usually extremely reluctant to 'clear' anyone, and usually simply say that the facts are the facts so far, and that who knows where their investigation will lead. So, you can draw your own conclusions. Terry Link has a long reach, it seems.

You must not be a very good lawyer, because you don't do much research. Senator Bond supported Peter Grant, who came within 300 votes or so from winning the 1st District county board seat, not Gene Kryczka. But it's good to know that a GOP lawyer has no problem with the fact that the current Antioch Assessor has 2 properties list in Antioch with homestead exemptions. You seem not to mind that the taxpayers of Lake County continue to get screwed, just so long as the screwin is done by a Republican. Just wait, amigo; 20 months or so and the 10th will be BLUE!

Anon 11:58- reread the post, my friend. Never said that Bond supported Kryczka. But I find it interesting that in all the crap your wrote about, the fact that this is yet another instance of Dem petition fraud that has come to light doesn't seem to bother you at all.

BTW, you guys have been saying you'll win the Tenth District for HOW MANY years now? What's the secret plan? Run Dan "2 time loser" Seals again?

As we say downtown, you can't beat somebody with a nobody.

Anon 11:58, you're lucky that TA gives you time and space to spout your insanity. Get over it, dude, since you D's are dilusional if you think that the 10th will turn Blue in 2010, with or without Seals. And what's your reply about the continuing issues with those with D's after their names? Perhaps the catwoman's cat has your tongue. Perhaps you are the catwoman. Regardless, it would be refreshing to read your take on Link and others who can't seem to deal honestly with their responsibilities. And you want people like that to take over the 10th? Take a hike.

Senator Bond looks like he is following the Blagojevich (who he supported) and Link (who he still supports) school of corruption. After I spent so much time researching Link's corruption (two Link campaign workers now going to jail), looks like we will have to turn our attention to Bond. So young, so corrupt already.

Not only does Antioch Township Assessor candidate Eugene Kryczka have bad signatures, but our esteemed 60th District State Rep. Eddie Washington has some problems with his petitions, as well!
In case you haven't heard, Mr Washington has decided to run for Mayor of Waukegan. I have seen his petitions and most of them have him running for Mayor of the "60th District".
That's right! Mayor of the 60th District!
Instead of writing "Waukegan" on the line that asks for the city, he wrote "60th District"!!

This is OUR Representative in Springfield!! God be with us!

From what I hear, there will be a challenge filed this afternoon.

Unbelievable!!!

TA - you have inspired me. Going through all of Bond's D-2s and some related stuff - not pretty

Great work TA, one by one you are working to rid us of the liberal scum that has been foisted upon us. I have urged you in the past to put Kirk's greatest clips up online. He just did a spot on WTTW which should be up tomorrow so that your fans and enemies can see him in action.

TA -- Have you thought about an open thread on who would run for Kirk's seat if he ran for the Senate? Anyone have thoughts? Dems definitely see it as an easy pickup if Kirk vacates. Everyone agree? Any frontrunners -- and any darkhorses?

Anon 9:36- that might be kinda fun. I have one or two people in mind that might be good candidates (and neither one is me, that's for sure). I'll put it in the post hopper.

Hey, maybe we'll even host a TA endorsement session. That would be fun as well. We'll see how much impact the blogosphere really can have...

If Mark leaves ship this seat is LONG GONE.

Personly I pray MSK does not, repeat does not, run for Senate. Way too much money to raise, open several offices, develop statewide volunteers, hire professional staff with commensurate salaries and a David Axlerod type of strategist and campaign manager as that would be needed for that kind of run. Not enough time to put it all together and you can be sure in less then two years the people of this state will forget what has happened with Blago and empty suit Burris (and don't forget no matter what the Messiah does the MSM will still slobber all over him and claim anything that goes wrong is because of the previous Bush administration)and vote for anyone who has a D behind their name. Even if Burris wins the primary.
