Will Tenth Dems Rely Too Much on Foreign Workers?

No, not those kind of foreign workers, the ones many people are concerned about nowadays, that come to this country ILLEGALLY but expect to be forgiven for breaking the law once they hang around long enough. Oh, sorry, that's right, these are "undocumented workers" not illegal immigrants.

Anyway, I digress. This is supposed to be a moderate blog. Actually, I suppose what really gets my goat is the law-breaking aspect of the whole thing, being a lawyer.

In any event, I have to run to an early client meeting, so for today, I thought we'd follow up on yesterday's theme in a sense. I heard over the weekend complaints by the Seals camp that Footlik was using (gasp!) paid workers to come to Highland Park (anyplace else that anyone knows of?) to canvass for signatures. How can he (Footlik) have the gall to invade OUR area and tell us who to vote for?

Wow. What a short memory the Seals folks have. Wasn't it just last cycle that the Chicago and 9th District Dems were bussing up workers from Downtown and Lincoln Park to canvass in Lake Forest for Seals? Wasn't it just a few months ago that Jan Schakowsky invaded the 10th District with her strike team to protest the war in Iraq, and demanded that Mark Kirk show up to take a beating in front of the cameras?

Apparently, the Seals camp can dish it out but can't take it. Not even from a fellow Dem. I promised myself I wasn't going to link to Ellen's Blog, but you really ought to get a chuckle out of the absolute flame war going on over there between the Seals and Footlik supporters, here.

This is going to be fun, at least until Feb. 5th. Has anyone heard of any Seals-Footlik debates? If they have any, it'll be great to see their pandering to the left base, all caught on camera by failed candidate and all around peacenik Lee Goodman. See what he caught the last cycle on Dan Seals's fine moment talking about an American response to an attack on Israel from Iran, here (hat tip: GOPulse).

Anyway, gotta run. Have at it.

TA,
Great link to Ellen's comment section! Good Lord, those folks would shoot their own mothers if they supported Footlick. In one of my comments over at Ellen's I suggested that they collectively start to read the blogger Dr. Sanity (Dr. Pat Santy - U of Mich). It is really sad to read Ellen's comment section, so many of those kids need help. Lots of it.

TA and el rider.....it is pathetic over there. Now that they don't have TA to beat up on they are truly 'eating their own' so to speak. What's interesting to note when you read the Seals FEC report is that many of his past supporters seem to be sitting on the sidelines until after the Primary. Some have defected (oh, the horrors of it) to Mr. Footlik. This battle between them is far from over and will be interesting, and I use that term advisedly, to watch. Ms. Gill's strong followers seem to have forgotten all the interlopers who invaded this district in the last cycle. One had an interesting experience in Lake Forest. The woman asked the homeowner which way to turn to find the train station! Ordinarily I'd call this the start of the silly season, but my fear is that we are beginning the search and destroy season. Hold onto your hats and seats because this party is awfully rough awfully early. In the meantime, more and more support is flowing into the Kirk campaign. Say what you will about those TeleTown Hall meetings, they DO show the appreciation many constituents have for all that Mark Kirk does for those of us lucky enough to be represented by this man in Congress. I know that he's also doing the old fashioned, in person events, but these TeleTown Halls allow hundreds more to listen and to participate than ALL of the in person meetings have provided over the past 7 years. I'm glad that he's finally doing both kinds of reach outs to this district. If I hear of any debates between the Democratic rivals I'll let you know.

How many carpetbaggers does it take to say "I'm not Kirk"?

I am glad to see you with your own blog! Ellen's blog is becoming more bizarre by the day, so this will be GOOD! I imagine her readership will decline markedly. I've pretty well stopped reading her because everyone in the world is not a liar with the exception of her, a couple of her friends, and her Marxist candidates.

I just learned that Seals was paying himself out of his campaign. "Give to Dan so he can give to himself" should be his slogan. At least Footlik isn't asking for contributions to buy groceries.

Anon - I love the tele-townhall meetings! It's a great way to use technology to keep people informed and involved. I also like the live townhalls. I went to the one in Arlington Heights a couple of months ago. There were quite a few 10th Dems there ready to pounce on Kirk with their usual wackiness but he responded with respect and well thought out positions.

That's the biggest difference - Kirk is out there talking to people in depth about what he believes and what he is doing to make the 10th CD better and the others are only saying what they are not.
