Would you like Footlik Fries with that Dan Burger? Observe how the Dems eat their own...

More on last Thursday's big Dan Seals meetup sponsored by DailyKos....

Check out this excerpt from the DailyKos--see if you can guess whose side Kos is on...

Seals received a lot of grassroots and netroots support in 2006, being named to the Netroots Candidates list. For 2008, he's already been named as a Blue Majority Candidate. But, this time around, he has to get through a primary against carpetbagging LieberDem Jay Footlik. Seals is running a strong campaign yet again, but could always use more help, whether you knock on doors for him, phone-bank, or make a contribution to his campaign coffers. (emphasis added)

And now check out one of the responses to Kos on his site:

Considering Jay has been living in Buffalo Grove since July and Dan has yet to become a resident of our district, I think we’re branding the wrong candidate a carpetbagger. Hearing Dan brag about his work for Joe Lieberman to Jewish groups and hiding from that part of his resume when talking to our community is also becoming tiresome.

HaHaHaHaHa!!! And I thought the Republicans tried to eat their young.... Seriously, though, I was really struck by the insightfulness of the above commentor, even though he or she was instantly criticized on DailyKos as a "Footlik Troll". (I didn't know that DailyKos was an official Dan sponsor and other views were not appreciated, but given what we know of Ellen's MO, I guess maybe I should not be surprised that this is typical among the Dem Bloggers.) So, Seals appears to have a selective memory regarding his experience when speaking to different groups, huh? THAT is going to come back to haunt him, big time.

Sadly, if you read the Kos link, you will see that the Thursday night group could not even guarantee the meeting room at Goose Island because they could not scrape up the $150 bucks it would take to reserve the room in the event another group wanted to rent it. Wow. I've heard of shoestring campaigns, but that takes the cake.

Now look at this additional pic from the event. Count 'em, what are there, 10 attendees, plus whomever took the picture? Glad they didn't spend that $150 bucks to reserve the room, the event definitely would have been in the red. About 10 more events like this and Seals won't have to worry about running anymore, because he'll be broke. Should I be shocked that they could not scrape together more than 10 Dems to come hear Seals in Chicago, considering the Dem population on the liberal north side? Or should we be shocked at all, considering the venue was nowhere near the 10th District and why should we expect people to come hear somebody running in a district light years away from where they live?

Better turn up the steam, Mr. Seals, the clock is ticking.

Seals has no idea what an experienced guy like Jay Footlik has in store for him.

Its day 823 since Dan Seals had a real job....

Maybe, but Footlik needs to be able to engage. Has Footlik challenged Seals to a debate? Will Seals accept? There is only really 3 months left, and the holidays are mixed in there.

I have never met or seen Footlik, but on Lee Goodman's website is a video clip of an interview or debate or something in which Footlik was talking about the bombing of Hezzbollah during summer of 2006. Footlik appears to have a lot more ability to talk foreign policy than Seals, but he needs to convince an audience. First, he has to get that audience.

So right, TA. Jay Footlik and Dan Seals should face off and let 10th District voters hear their views on issues IN ADDITION to the Iraq War. Now that would be of interest since neither of them seem to be familiar with the district they'd like to represent. Seals has always been a one issue guy: Iraq. I have no idea what mantra Footlik will use. While some feel that it's not all that important to be well versed about this district, it most definitely IS the issue for the majority of people I know out here. Congressman Kirk knows every part of this district: he knows the schools, the leadership of the communities, their own particular needs and wants, the healthcare access, and lack thereof with no Level 1 Trauma facility out here, and yes, he knows the frustrations with clogged roads. Those two guys have a lot to learn and we have a right to know what they know and what they plan to do to help solve problems. I was lucky to be able to participate in one of the TeleTown Hall meetings last week. While I do like the in person kind more, I learned a great deal more from the varied questions asked of our Congressman by people on that call. It's a great new technology that allows more people to dialogue with Congressman Kirk. After what I heard about the in person meeting in Winnetka yesterday I realize that the TeleTown Hall is more productive, has only those who live in this district participating. I asked a question that required some research by a member of the Kirk district staff. I received a call from the district office before noon the following day with the answer to my question. That's constituent service. But I digress. Please post any notices you come across about discussions, debates, meetings, etc. between Mr. Seals and Mr. Footlik. My curiosity is peaking.......isn't yours?

Did Seals ever really work for GE or was he hired strictly as a political accomodation? It's strange that a marketing manager would be completely invisitble on the web. When he ran before, there was no evidence that he actually had a private sector job other than he stated that he did. I have some real doubts about that job. Given the history of election results in the 10th, Seals might realize that he is not in such good shape. I think his plan was to run on Obama's coat tails, which might be very short this year. Is there any real evidence that this guy really moved out of Hyde Park? Does anyone know whether his kids actually did attend or do attend local schools?

As far as I know, it's pretty clear that Seals does in fact live in Wilmette, but he moved AFTER the 10th District was redrawn to its current boundaries--to a house outside the 10th. So he NEVER lived in the 10th District when it was the 10th, if you know what I mean. It's common knowledge he was put up to run by Jan Schakowsky from the 9th--her and her felon husband, who continues to be a primary organizer in the Dem party.

Seals was indeed a marketing manager for GE, but he was certainly not a "director" in the sense of being on the board of directors (which for a company like GE would be a lofty position indeed), although (as I pointed out in detail on Ellen's Blog some months ago), to read his website bio, you would think he had a very highly placed position at GE, calling himself a "Director of Marketing". Not true. He was a cubicle dweller that worked as a middle manager in marketing--probably had 3 or 4 people reporting to him, like literally thousands of other middle managers at GE, was expected to wear a tie every day (but jacket optional) and he didn't have a door on his office. And, moreover, he was apparently someone that GE decided they didn't need back.

As for GE planting his for political purposes, GE doesn't operate like that. Whatever lobbying they need is done by professionals in DC, not by trying to support upstart local candidiates, especially one running against a powerful incumbent like Kirk.

So why hasn't Seals moved into the 10th District by now? My guess is just laziness. If he winsm he figures the Dems will control the new map (in 2010, I believe) and his home will be included, obviating the need to move. If he loses, no extra work for him. But if he were really committed, and looking for every single advantage to win, he would have moved. It's just an easy thing to do, but he can't even be bothered to fix this glaring issue that he continues to be criticized for.

His current position as a consultant is simply a dodge for the fact that no one would hire him after GE. I'd love to see his tax returns and see if he ever actually has had any private sector clients. Wonder if he'd release them (not)?

I also have been unable to find any evidence on the web that Seals actually conducts any private business (no Seals business website, etc.). Anybody know differently?

Maybe Seals is still living off his campaign contributions as he was last election.

Looks like Seals is back hanging out with the anti-semites at DailyKos.

At least Jay learned from THAT Seals mistake...
