It's been a busy week, so we have some catching up to do. This past Tuesday, the four-month old Lake County Young Republicans group, led by Collin Corbett, adopted its constitution and became official. About 40 people attended the meeting at Lake County GOP Headquarters in Libertyville, which included not only local YR members, but also representatives of many State and Lake County Republican Groups.
Among the groups represented who came to express their support and enthusiasm for the new group were the Lake County Republican Central Committee (represented by TA's alter-ego, LCRCC vice-chairman Larry Falbe), the Republican Assembly of Lake County (represented by RALC President Ray True), the Lake County Republican Federation (represented by Executive Director Ant Simonian), the DuPage County Young Republicans, the Will County Young Republicans, the Illinois Republican Party, and several other groups.
Among the other comments, I noted that the fact that many different Republican groups had come to support the fledgling new group was a great example of cooperation in a party that too often has been known for infighting and self-destructive behavior. Hopefully this is the beginning of a better spirit of pulling together than we have had in this party in years past.
The YR group has really hit Lake County by storm, including hosting a recent forum to discuss the impeachment proceedings against former Governor Rod Blagojevich. They will also be having a St. Patrick's Day event at 6 p.m. at Cubby Bear North, 21661 Milwaukee Ave, Lincolnshire, IL.
The YRs also had nominations from the floor for officers, which will be held open for a few more days if anyone else is interested. You can get more information by e-mailing the group at lakecountyyrs@gmail.com, and you can also find them on Facebook.

TA- thanks for the plug! Just some info for those who couldn't make the meeting:
Nominations for the offices of Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-President, and President are being accepted until March 30. You can submit your nominations via email to lakecountyyrs@gmail.com.
The election (secret ballot) will be held at the next business meeting set for April 14 at 7 p.m. The candidates for office will be giving short speeches. All are invited to attend, but only regular members are allowed to vote.
Thanks again for your support!

Wow it sounds like the young Republicans of Lake County are getting their act together. It is time for CHANGE if Republicans want a real shot at winning any races. The first step is getting the young Republicans active. Second step get a new executive director for the county organization.
I was very concerned yesterday on channel 2 to see this story about state legislators making 80,000 a year who are set to raise our taxes. Before they raise our taxes during a recession perhaps they should take pay cuts. Matt Murphy was not pictured favorably in the story.
The Mar. 13 anonymous poster said that the federation should replace the executive director, but he or she didn't give a suggestion. Who should the replacement be?
Phil Collins
Phil this inside baseball is garbage, the party should be focused on new ideas, ideas, ideas and new leadership not this trash of who gets to assistant to the regional manager of dunder mifflin paper company.
If these knuckleheads masquerading as our leaders focused on winning elections (which they've done about as well as the washington generals) not winning stupid internal catfights, they might get their power outright.

Hey Phil,
Which one of your buddies at RALC would want the job? It's thankless and pays crap - I think the lady in there does a great job. She's always positive and pumped up. Maybe if more republicans acted like she did we wouldn't have the problems we do in Lake County and the State. When was the last time you thanked her?
Keep up the great work guys! Fight on fellow Republicans!
