10th District GOP Congressional Candidate Bob Dold Announces Trip to Middle East

From the Dold for Congress campaign- looks like Bob is headed to Israel. I think it's notable that Bob has only been a candidate for a relatively short period and is on his way to Israel; Dan Seals has been campaigning for this position for five years or more, and has only been to Israel once, as far as I know.

Dold Announces Trip to Middle East

Will Focus on the U.S.-Israeli Security and Economic Relationships

Winnetka, IL- Today, 10th District Congressional candidate Robert Dold announced that he is traveling to Israel next week to meet with Israeli government and military officials. Dold will get a first-hand look at several key security areas.

“I look forward to being in Israel at such a critical time in the U.S.-Israel relationship. Our nation’s primary national security threat stems from the tenuous situation in the Middle East. I believe the best way to understand the complex political and cultural dynamics in the country is to evaluate the facts on the ground,” said Dold.

“I strongly believe we must embrace our key ally and partner, Israel, in our mutual fight against a nuclear Iran and the terrorism exported from this region,” Dold continued.

Dold’s visit will also focus on the rapidly expanding business relationships between the United States and Israel, including a private meeting with Saul Singer--the co-author of the acclaimed book “Start-Up Nation,” which analyzes the business and entrepreneurial environment in Israel today.

Dold will be joined on the trip by a group of pro-Israel supporters from the district, and he will be visiting the Armenian Church and Quarter in Jerusalem’s Old City.

That is very smart. Didn't Seals go a few years back and ride around in a cab? Nice effort Dan.

This is nothing more than a pathetic display of pandering.

So Anon 5:27 - what then was it when Seals went to Israel?

Anonymous said...

That's the kind of "pandering" that will get a vote and a very large donation from me.

Yup, that's a classic!

I don't think Bob Dold is pandering. I think he's going for a WEEK to learn, to see for himself what the security issues involve, what the business opportunities are between our two nations, and to feel his own heritage as well. Wise decision on his part. I'll be looking forward to his impressions in a week or so.

this is a brilliant reason why mark needs to be a senator. It was a clip from politico where Alexi tried to swift boat mark's record.

He also has some great words on china you should note for your next cocktail party.

http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0510/Kirk_I_command_the_war_room_in_the_Pentagon.html

catlady doesn't have kids so I bet even if she had them she wouldn't let them play with gi joes, but she has in the past attacked mark along with that noted purple heart winner lee goodman for what he says he did in the service. Longtime kirk hands will remember that during the 2000 campaign as lauren beth gash pummeled him, he left the campaign to serve in iraq.

the thuggishness of the democrats does not suprise me.

As for dold, he needs to buy a chicago tribune archives search and go back and read john porter's playbook, be out front as pro-choice, pro-enviornment, pro-human rights , and then make the campaign about the fact that the only difference is that dan is a job killing and tax hiking fiscal liberal and dold (not using the t at the end out of respect to new age team follower and enemy of mine fielding melish)is not.

Seals is a fool who unlike gash in 2000 who claimed in part to be a fiscal hawk, loves to talk about his support for tax hikes even though as an unemployed bum he hasn't paid any for 19000 years.

Right on, Fan. I think it's so outrageous that the viciousness of catlady and her sidekick, Carl, want to deny Mark's military service. They have, indeed, stooped to a new low. Mark's record is out there for scrutiny and evaluation. Too bad these low lives have never worn the uniform of our nation, have little to show in the way of true patriotism.

As for Bob Dold, I couldn't agree more. It's long past time for him to get out in public, state his positions openly and clearly, get out all over the 10th District to show why he can and will follow in the tradition of Porter and Kirk. Dold is a quiet guy, but in the next 5 months I hope he picks up some momentum and does what he can do best and that's called selling himself. He's a decent man with a fine background of community service.

It looks like Kirk has some major military record problems. Just published in Politico:

http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0510/Kirk_I_command_the_war_room_in_the_Pentagon.html?showall

Hmm...this makes Blumenthal's problem sound minimal IMO. And, of course, Politico is NOT a left wing site. Of course the major problems of Kirk are also discussed in progressive sites:

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2010/5/22/868911/-Polling-and-Political-Wrap,-5-22-10

TA, do you recall when you were wondering who will might replace Giannoulias if he becomes a major liability for the democrats? When I asked who may be a good candidate to replace Kirk if he drops out of the race, you did not take seriously my question. What do you think after this? Who will drop out first for exaggerating his military record/experience? Blumenthal or Kirk? Just checking :)

Funny how the author of that blog piece specifically stated on Capitol Fax that Kirk did NOT lie about his military record.

But the "Nitpicker" fellow thinks otherwise after nitpicking away.

The Cat Lady now attacks Abe Lincoln's record as President while ignoring that Senator Garrett didn't send her e-mail survey to all of her constituents, just some of them, an accusation she always makes about Kirk.

Yup. It's a crazy, mixed up certified world except for Lola.

Atsaves,
Who is nitpicking? You seem to have decided to ignore what was written in the Politico. Here something is from the Politico article I linked to above (referring to what Kirk said):

"This struck military observers as, literally speaking, implausible".

So, why are you refusing to face the actual facts and, instead, blame others as "nitpickers"?

Anonymous said...

Why not just have the Navy PROVE to Blue and that thing called the catlady Mr. Kirk's ACTUAL record of service. That will settle the whole thing. Mr. Kirk has earned his Rank in the Navy, he does servce as Intel head in that Unit every third week each month, he has been injured on active duty, all verifiale. So to silence Blue and others once and for all, I think the Kirk team needs to show the actual records of his servce. Hey Blue. have you worn the uniform? You are out of line in your attack, but then I'm used to your ramblings.

Blue Wind said...

ANON 8:10 AM,
You got it wrong. I did not attack anyone. Politico did. Read the article. No one disputes that Kirk has served honorably his country. So has Blumenthal in Connecticut. Read the article and (you may) understand what the problem is.

Anonymous said...

Blue, I DID read the article. There is NO PROBLEM, only the one that YOU want to create. A blogger says something and you grab hold of it. As I stated in my previous post, it's time for the Blogger and for you to get the straight scoop from the Navy official records. Blumenthal LIED about being in the service. Mark Kirk has never lied about his service, his record or anything else. You and that sicko catwoman seem to invent your own version of Kirk's record on everything in his life.
Geez.

Blue Wind said...

ANON 9:38,

Why you keep repeating a lie? I did not invent anything. I simply linked to Politico, which is a neutral news source, not a blog. The issue was repeated by Daily Kos (which is a progressive blog). In the Politico site they have the clip of Kirk and they compare him to Blumenthal. Is that my invention? Stop lying. You can argue why Politico is wrong, but outright lying and calling people names, as you routinely do, only shows weakness.

Anonymous said...

If it's about lies, Blue, then YOU are the guilty one. Stop repeating what Daily Kos says or what the Politico BLOGGER falsely claims. Why are YOU belaboring what has no merit?

Anonymous said...

Wow, read the political article and watch the video. Mark Kirk is one impressive person. He is going to wipe the floor with the 30-year old who has already, (1) participated in the destruction of a bank; (2) loaned money to crooks; (3) accepted dividends from a bank that taxpayer money had to bail out; (4) lost several millions of Illinois' college savings.

I can't wait for the mail piece that compares the resumes of Mark Kirk and Alexi. Remember the one Kirk used against Seal? It was beyond classic, and will even be more stark in this election.

1. Dan Seals has not put out one of his polls in at least 6 months.

2. Why has he done this? Because as the frontrunner for the dem and now regular nomination he knows that anything short of showing him with a commanding lead is deep deep trouble for him because it will demonstrate a negative trajectory in his polling.

3. Dold does not need a week in Israel. Most members of congress do the trip with the helo flight, meetings at knesset, stay at king david in 3 days tops. He's already at a 3 million dollar net negative fundraising disadvantage for what the democrats will dump on him the last weekend of october the way they hit mark 2 years ago that the nrcc can't match.

He needs the extra 50k he could raise from the 3 days here, but it's his call.

anon,

bingo.

and remember, all bets are off until we see the damage from the blago trial, which I think will seriously damage democrat morale and destroy their brand with the people of illinois, not the least of which the 10th which are most anathema to corruption.

I would also like to point out that it looks like pup has a new job as spokesman for waukegan public schools judging from his website. I can not on earth figure out what and why he would repost their story on his site.

Smells like desperation or some form of stalking.

Equally desperate, Carl Nyberg (Boy Wonder to Ellen's Batman), felt compelled to do a post about Seals posting the Waukegan story on his facebook page.

I wonder what EllenCarl thinks about JJJ. They are just about to air a segment on that on the Channel 5 evening news, so maybe more on that tomorrow.

Team,

1. I would prefer the term her chavez to her as the achmadijad given their feelings for israel.

2. they are quiet about Obama's handling of this bp thing which is about as good as his pal todd stroger and blago's handling of state and local government, other areas that catlady never discusses.

3. North Korea and South Korea in a standoff, cue the Mark Kirk on the morning radio and tv circuit to break down the issue clips and yet another round of free media. After Chris Hill quits embassy baghdad because it's an awful amabassadorship maybe he can testify before mark's committee next year on the obama administrations failed east asia policy.

I am looking forward to shortening my name post election after the slaying.

Dolt will have plenty of time to go to Israel in December after he loses the election...
This guy is an amateur, wannabe politician with NO ideas, NO vision for the future, and 0 qualifications for the office. All he knows is 'no' and is willing to put the welfare of the country at risk just to see the Obama Admin fail (just like the rest of the GOP). TA argues that Seals is unqualified, but he's overqualified when compared to Dolt.

Anon 10:43, the candidate's name is Robert DOLD. Be kind enough, civil enough to call him by his correct name. Your genius candidate, Dan Seals, offer less than nothing to this district and to the US House. To malign the GOP with your broad brush attack tells me that you're just posting as Anon but you're actually the attack cat, also known as Ellen Beth Gill. It's so nice that TA gives you the space to post such garbage.

For those who question Bob Dold's experience, let's not forget that he served as an investigative counsel for the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee and worked for the Vice President in the first Bush administration.

Anonymous said...

Dold also runs a small business. Dan Seals, on the other hand, hasn't had a job in six years and doesn't really understand the District as he doesn't live here.

I work in Waukegan and hear over and over again from folks who are tired of only seeing Dan Seals every two years or so, only to disappear until the next election cycle.

Anonymous said...

"worked for the Vice President in the first Bush administration." YES, I want to elect someone that worked for Dick Cheney!....Seriously? I would never vote for someone even remotely associated with that man. Cheney showed a serious disregard for the role of his office, shredded the Constitution, and told everyone who did agreed with him to "go f*ck themselves" instead of working together. Dold's association with Cheney is reason enough not to vote for him, even if Dold's position was something equivalent to coffee boy or valet.

It has come to my attention that Dold worked under Vice-President Quayle, not VP Cheney. With that being the case, I withdraw my objection on those grounds. However, I still hold that his "trip" to Israel is nothing more than cheap pandering and I highly doubt that any legitimate Israeli official will meet with him. If anyone has information to the contrary, I would love to hear it.

Bob claims the following on his website from the 1st 2 days of his trip:

Jerusalem Post journalist Khaled Abu Toameh

Executive Director of jerusalem Great Synagogue, Rabbi Finklestein

Danny Tierza, who served in the IDF for 30 years. Danny and is known as the "architect" of Israel's security fence.

Bob headed to Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for a series of official briefings on Iran, the neighboring Arab states, and U.S.-Israel relations.

Well, CC, you will be eating your words when the Dold and his trip partners return on Sunday. How do I know? I've had a phone call from one of the participants who has confirmed everything that's been stated. Why would you think he'd fabricate his meetings? This trip was set up thru the auspices of some very well connected pro-Israel folks from the district. When you don't know something I guess you just think you can make it up.....the same way that vicious attack catwoman makes up what she blogs about. Bob Dold will be happy to brief you on his meetings, have those who met with him validate his account of his visit.
