Prepare for The Mac Attack - What Does This Mean for IL-10?

Mitt Romney just announced he's dropping out of the race. We have tried to stay away from saying a lot on the presidential race in this space, but we commend Governor Romney for his hard-fought campaigning and the courage of his convictions.

Now, on with the show- It's MAC! We all know Congressman Mark Kirk came out in support of Mac long ago. How will Mac's position as the de facto GOP nominee effect the GOP race, the Dem presidential contenders, and life here in the 10th District?

Discuss.

CLARIFICATION- I understand from the AP that Romney is reportedly "suspending" his campaign (is this different from 'dropping out'?). But no one comes back from the dead. Here's the quote from the AP report: "If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win. And in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign, be a part of aiding a surrender to terror," Romney will say at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington.

Mitt's done. On with the Mac Attack!

What a difference a day makes. Obama and Clinton kill each other until the Convention in August while an independent like McCain cruises to victory.

Bad news Dan.

Insider note: Seals is already editing video showing McCain and Kirk joined at the hip (multiple trips and press conferences together over the years with Kirk as a McCain acolyte), suggesting that Kirk will most likely get a Cabinet position if Mac wins...so why waste a vote on Kirk when he will disappear from representing the District in two months if he gets re-elected. He'll challenge Kirk to pledge to serve out his term if McCain wins.

I'm not sure if this is a good tack for Seals to take, but there you have it.

Seals is welcome to pair Kirk with Mac. Having supported Mac for Pres long ago, Kirk is not going to back off now. And, why should he? It appears clear that Mac is the best Republican candidate to appeal to moderates and independents, who are the same folks that Kirk appeals to, and a group that Seals must win in order to have any chance at all. IMHO, McCain will be a huge positive for Kirk, not a drag. The military set, especially, is going to eat this up.

You go ahead and get that video ready, Mr. Seals, and Kirk can save some money having to do it himself.

You are so right, TA. Mark Kirk is not a guy who wants a Cabinet position - that's not his goal in life. That shows you what Seals and his lackies "know" about our Congressman. Having had the support of John McCain way back in 2000 shows that Mark has enjoyed a long standing relationship with this man. Like Mark Kirk, John McCain is a man of accomplishments, a man with a great record of accomplishments, a TRUTHFUL and very honest, straight talking guy. Hey, TA, should we offer some of the great photos of Mark Kirk and John McCain from the past couple of decades?

Kirk is not going anywhere but Congress.

Get a real job Dan.

Looks like Kirk's people are preparing a video of their own...

I'll bet Kirk will refuse to make a pledge that he will serve out his term if he is re-elected. That's the issue.

Hey Anon 7:56- what do we here in the 10th District care what people from the east coast think? You either work for DCCC or Dem headquarters is my guess, based on your domain.

FYI, you won't win the battle for the 10th by trolling on my blog. Better suit up, pull out the checkbook, and figure out how to get the Seal Pup out from under the cloud of credibility problems that are just starting to build. Even if you guys are ready to write a $3 million check, Seals is still cooked. This is going to be fun.

Seal. It's what's for dinner in the 10th District.

Hooray, TA, let anyone and everyone know that Mark Kirk has one goal: to continue to serve the people of the 10th District as he's done so brilliantly for the past 7 plus years. Anyone who really knows our Congressman would know that he has no interest in anything beyond working to finish all of the projects he's been working on that benefit not just our district, but our nation and our world.

And I hope those who are "trolling" here get the message: Dan Seals is guy with more baggage than the cargo hold on a United airline plane. No more talk from him and his cronies - it's answers, truthful ones, that the people are going to be waiting to read and hear. NOW.

I can't imagine anyone, or any organization, cutting a million-plus check to a candidate without seeing both his resume and his tax returns first.

Once The Pup does that, assuming the Dems have any business sense at all, the only sound he'll be hearing is the check-book drawer sliding shut.

It's unlikely the DCCC will be as enthusiastic in helping Dan with funds, if they can help a Democratic challenger somewhere else without matching that candidate's opponent's millions of dollars. The DCCC would love to help, but I don't see it making a difference against Kirk.

A few Democrat trolls seem to be salivating over a McCain GOP nomination and how it would affect Kirk's reelection here in the 10th.

Why would the straight talking John McCain present a major issue to Republicans running for Congress. McCain has bucked the party establishment many times to their displeasure and when I attend arch-conservative GOP gatherings, Kirk isn't very high on their list, as he tends to have an independent streak like McCain. Their independent natures are positives in my humble opinion.

Seals in the meantime shows absolutely no independence about him with his party bosses. As the Democrats on the ellen blog are fond of saying, he would need to be "released" from such straight party voting. McCain and Kirk "release" themselves when faced with contrasting opinions.

Who's to say Seals won't be asked to serve in a possible Obama admistration? I mean who can pass up a guy with such a great resume? Too bad unemployment isn't issued at the federal level, looking at Seals long list of accomplishments, he would be best suited to head such a department. Ha!

Seals got a job at Blockbuster! He is now claiming to be a "Director of Filmography, Sales Management and Accounting Management.". Guess he is running the cash register. You're a go to guy Dan!

TA, Anon 7:56 here.
You're right, I work at DCCC, but I was brought to DC from the District for this year's campaign. I know you from Lake County, appreciated your intelligence even when representing corporate polluters, and thought you and your flock might want to be entertained by some of the thinking here concerning IL-10. But if you don't appreciate the heads-up (which you are free to reject), I'll keep it to myself.

Anon 7:56- I'm out of town this week, and logging in from my Blackberry, so not sure if this will post correctly as TA, but it's me. First, we do value everyone's opinion and we are glad to have you, but if you are simply going to post propaganda for your team, then identify yourself with your affiliation (as you have now done, although I wish everyone would pick a nickname), and then no one will accuse you of being a Dem troll, because at least you will have been up front about where you are coming from.

Otherwise, raising issues as you have done simply makes it seem like you are dispensing propaganda and no one knows if we can trust you. Of course, we're not stupid either, and we can assume that anyone from DCCC that leaves insider tidbits on this blog is doing it for the purposes and benefit of DCCC and Seals (for whatever reason fits in with your scheme) than to add to the disclourse.
And, don't even get me started about representing corporate polluters. Most companies try hard to comply with environmental laws (after all, it's a lot cheaper to comply than get caught) and most of my work deals with envrionmental legacies left over from decades ago when the management practices of the time were very different, and not illegal, and most of my work deals with fighting with other companies about who pays what, not against EPA. So, I'm happy to have that debate with any bleading heart dope-smoking liberals that simply think all industry is evil, because it ain't so.

Final point- are you basically admitting that DCCC took sides in the primary and sent out minions to help Seals over Footlik? I'm not shocked, but surprised you'd admit it. Guess you figure with Seals big win, it's safe to come out now.

Thanks for stopping by, and we do welcome you back. I guarantee you will get more respect here than we do at Ellen's, even though we know you are an agent of the dark side.

As a token of our respect for DCCC, and since you didn't pick your own nickname, I hereby dub you "Flounder."

Everyone, please welcome DCCC and Flounder officially to our little blog.

Flounder, thanks, and we look forward to your next post. Tell Rahm and Nancy I said "hi".

I am suprised that DNCC would get involved in a local primary, but when I read about the superdelegates, they have some bizarre rules. Welcome, Flounder, but be careful, choose your companions carefully, as you might deviate from the tips given to Democrats on how to change votes through blog comments and end up wanting to be one of us.

Anon at 7:52 PM has a great idea: nominating the Pup for various Cabinet posts based on his resume. How about Education?

Those veterans who enjoy correcting the Netizen of the West, Ellen, might want to head over to her blog and help her out. Through some mindless cut and paste and application of her superior analytic skills, she's reporting (Saturday) that 25.7% of
Illinois Veterans are homeless. If you look at the underlying article, you will see how this happened, including her ability to see anything the way she wants to.

Looks like Gill is blaming Kirk for a Durbin earmark. I love her poor research. Hope Seals relies on her like he relies on Terry "Dead Signature" Link, Lauren "Huge FEC fine" Gash and Robert "Two Felony" Creamer. What sleaze.

Catwoman, AKA Ms. Shrill is so consumed with blind hatred for Mark Kirk that she's way over the top lately. What she knows about earmarks is NOTHING. Our Congressman has used earmarks to HELP this district, but she and her blind followers trust her "honest reporting" and provide the echo to her insane rants. The Kirk earmarks were made public last Summer, were printed in the Tribune and the Pioneer Press. No secrets surrounding what Mark Kirk does to improve the quality of life in this district.

And to the issue of Veterans health, again she knows nothing. More funding was approved this past year than ever before. And yes, it was John Porter who began the fight to keep our VA Hospital open, but it was Mark Kirk who actually took this the distance beginning in his first campaign to make it the reality it is today.

The Pup is programmed by Ms. Shrill and that also ran, Gash. Both are myopic in their views and The Pup just follows along. Should be interesting, but Mark Kirk is more than able to get out there and let the truth be told. That's not something those "ladies" are familiar with as we've seen.

Please have Seals work more with Creamer -- please.
