A newly-rejuvenated Lake County Young Republicans group is starting off the new year with a bang, with an "Impeachment Update" planned for this coming Thursday, January 22nd, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Austin's in Libertyville (just across the road from Lake County Republican Headquarters on Peterson Road).
To help explain the impeachment proceedings and their impact on the state, as well as how they will likely effect the future of the Republican Party in Illinois, the Lake County YR's have assembled an impressive team of elected officials, including Senator Matt Murphy, Senator Dan Duffy, Representative Ed Sullivan, Representative Sandy Cole, Representative Suzie Bassi and others. You can download the YR press release here. The event is free, but the YRs ask that you RSVP.
For more information or to RSVP, contact the YRs at lakecountyyrs@gmail.com
Hats off to the young'uns for putting this together, and let's hope it's a sign of some badly-needed new blood getting things going for the GOP.

TA- Thanks for giving this group some space on your blog. They are an eager group of young people in our county who have some great ideas and great leadership about how to revitalize the up-and-coming generation of Republicans. We had our first business meeting last week, with over 30 attendees who are looking for an outlet and a community in Lake County. I'm really very excited to see some movement, especially with some active and intelligent future leaders.
Anyone in the area is welcome to become a member or associate member, attend meetings and social events, and if interested, serve on a committee. Our next business meeting is scheduled for Feb. 10 at 7pm at the Lake Co. Republican Federation.
If anyone is interested in membership or participation, the LCYR's email is lakecountyyrs@gmail.com.
Thanks!
Lauren Fleming
Secretary
Lauren,
Best of luck, highly recommend you and the LCYR's attend the Conservative Political Action Conference in D.c. in late february. It is the premiere gathering of youmg Republicans, and aside from the great conservative speakers, the after hours parties and socializing are great.
FOKLAES
New generation of Republicans? The R base is shrinking because most of today's young people realize that "social conservative" is a euphemism for "bigot."
If the Republican Party can purge the ideology and racist crap to focus on actually being fiscally conservative (not expanding the federal gov't and waging expensive and pointless wars), it might have a future.
Note that I am not promoting the Democratic Party here. If you want to respond, defend the R.P. rather than attacking the equally useless D.P.

813, it's funny you say that because 4 years ago, every cockamamie liberal journalist in the country was writing about how ALL young people were republicans and how the right was rising. Go to google books, type in 2004 and read all about the college republicans who had 130,000 members to the 50,000 neo-hippie trash. CPAC gets thousands of young republicans read y to rumble every year. The left only has hookah bars.
I am a proud former pro-choice college republican at an elite-read top 10 eastern university where we had roughly 700 names on our campus mailing list and regularly destroyed campus liberal groups and college democrats in a blue state with our organizing.
Everyone in America is sour on the GOP and Democrat congress today, but it's important to remember Democrats have now won 1/3 presidential elections, and 2/9 congressional elections.
Lead by TA, King Louis, and Lauren Fleming, the GOP will rise again.
