10th District Congressman Mark Kirk spent some time on NBC-5's "City Desk" recently.
In Part One, Kirk discusses the war in Afghanistan and the challenges with the economy, especially the exploding U.S. debt, and whether anyone will continue lending us all the money we need to borrow under President Obama's plan to blow the U.S. debt to the moon.
In Part Two, Kirk talks about his plans for running in 2010; whether that's for his 10th District Congressional seat, the U.S. Senate, or even the governor's mansion, you'll have to watch to see what he says. He also talks about the tax burden we face here in Illinois, drug wars and other fun.

From Roll Call this morning...
“...but you could also probably fault the so-called (GOP) bench candidates in these districts for not stepping up to the plate,” said Mark Nevins, a Democratic consultant based in Pennsylvania.
Nevins said the 2010 cycle will not necessarily be Democrats’ last chance to take these seats. At least in the case of Kirk Democrats’ chances might only get better after redistricting occurs before the 2012 cycle.
“It is the last time you can run in these districts before redistricting, but I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s the ‘last chance,’ per say,” Nevins said. “Some of these districts might get better after redistricting.”

Thanks, Lou. I can feel the love!
Kirk had a great op-ed in today's USA today about suspending the 'mark-to-market' rule that is causing a lot of the financial pain in this recession.
