Local Print News Reporter Tapped for Suzi Schmidt's Vacancy on Lake County Board

Just noticed this on my way out the door this morning - County Board Chairman David Stolman has tapped veteran News-Sun reporter Jim Newton to take Suzi Schmidt's vacancy on the Lake County Board. Schmidt's vacancy was caused, of course, by her State Senate election victory over former Michael Bond. Trib coverage here, Daily Herald coverage here. The full county board will vote on the appointment at its March 15th meeting.

Certainly a refreshing choice for the Board. Jim's years of experience covering a variety of county-related topics will be useful as the Board moves forward. Good Luck Jim!

the mark-clinton questioning yesterday was some great stuff and worthy of their youtube page. I'm not sure taking on the somali pirates is a major international concern right now or worthy of his 5 minutes in a major hearing, but the depth of it was impressive.

Thanks for pointing out the Kirk - Clinton exchange. That was a very interesting and intriguing discussion to watch.
