Will Dan Seals Kiss Hamas, or Stand Up For Israel? (UPDATED- Seals Follows Kirk's Lead on Hamas, But What Took So Long?)

Former President Jimmy Carter continues his ill-advised tour of the Middle East, laying a wreath at the grave of "peace fighter" Yasser Arafat, and literally kissing a top Hamas terrorist, Nasser Shaer.

As far as I can tell, 10th Congressional District candidate Dan Seals, who is having his second go-round with GOP Congressman Mark Kirk, has been silent on Carter's trip. Will he kiss Hamas, or stand up for Israel's security and right to exist?

Meanwhile, Mark Kirk has been at the forefront of criticizing Carter and leading a bi-partisan effort to convince Carter that his actions are not conducive to Israel's security and its attempts to promote peace in the Middle East.

UPDATED-- SEALS (BELATEDLY) FOLLOWS KIRK ON HAMAS: It looks like several days after Mark Kirk has been leading the charge against Jimmy Carter's intention to warmly embrace terrorist Hamas, Seals finally decided that he'd better get on the Kirk train, or be left far behind at the station. Seals released this statement yesterday. I'm not sure what took him so long to decide where he was on this issue, which seems pretty clear-cut to most people. As our alert commentors have already pointed out, however, Seals' few paragraphs in a press release pale in comparison to the pro-active stance and bi-partisan leadership already displayed by Mark Kirk on this important issue, which has gotten loads of national attention.

So, Dan, if you agree with Mark Kirk, and he is already in Congress doing it quicker, better and smarter than you can, why do we need you???

I understand that The Pup issued a statement on the Carter visit to his Hamas friends. Whatever Seals has said pales in comparison to what the undisputed LEADER on every pro-Israel issue has accomplished. More than 50 bi-partisan House Members have signed onto the Kirk/Berkley letter which strongly condemns Carter. FOX News has picked up on what our Congressman has initiated. When Mark Kirk spoke so passionately on the House Floor last week, naming those who died at the hands of Meshall, it was a stark reminder of who Carter thinks he can persuade to be reasonable. It's great to be optimistic but when you are dealing with those who have as their stated goal the destruction of the State of Israel, do you really think they are listening? This has nothing to do with land for peace but rather about the Hamas charter that calls for death to Israel.

Dan Seals is child-like in his statements. Then again, look at his advisors on the issue.

Seals criticized Carter’s visit with Khaled Meshel in a release

Yep, TA, we have the REAL Leader on this issue and so many others, so why on earth would anyone want someone like Seals in DC. That's not a question, just a statement of fact. Fox national news is carrying the Kirk/Berkley piece since late last evening. I believe that Seals might vote to support Israel. This is NOT about a vote. You've heard it before and you will hear it over and over: Congressman Mark Kirk is the undisputed LEADER when it comes to protecting the very life and existence of the State of Israel.
There's no discussion on this, and one look at Mr. Kirk's FEC report will validate that statement. Every pro-Israel organization, every person who truly has Israel at heart continues to show their thanks by supporting this LEADER.
By the way, TA, didn't Seals tell the media he had raised more than what his actual report showed? For a Northwestern "lecturer" I think he needs to take basic math 101.

When it's politically expedient, The Pup turns and runs from his Daily Kos, peace-train talk. Why won't The Pup repudiate his previous comments, recorded on tape, wherein he would not back Israel in a confrontation with Iran? Sorry Pup, once an empty suit, always an empty suit.

Wonder if Dan wants thier support as well....

During an interview on WABC radio Sunday, top Hamas political adviser Ahmed Yousef said the terrorist group supports Obama’s foreign policy vision.

“We don’t mind-actually we like Mr. Obama. We hope he will (win) the election and I do believe he is like John Kennedy, great man with great principle, and he has a vision to change America to make it in a position to lead the world community but not with domination and arrogance,” Yousef said in response to a question about the group’s willingness to meet with either of the Democratic presidential candidates.

It's like Hitler endorsing Chamberlain for prime minister.

LOL, Anon 8:42. And let's remember (lest we be doomed to forget) what Chamberlain gave up to secure "peace in our time" and how that all turned out. Pacifism in the face of such adversity never works.

TA and others, I hope you heard Clinton and Obama tonight in their last debate before the PA Primary. BOTH of them pledged to abandon what Generals on the ground would advise in Iraq and immediately begin the full withdrawl of troops from Iraq. Both said that they, NOT the military in charge, would dictate the course and that the Generals would obey. Be careful what one wishes for since neither of those two truly understand the consequences of their actions.

As for Seals and his late-entry and rather pithy statement on Carter, he's a day late and way short of a "dollar" on what to say and/or what to do. He would find a way to sit under the tree and sing sweet songs hoping for the best. Out of touch, actually, NO touch with reality. Not him, not Obama and not Hillary. These folks orbit on some other planet, for sure.

I’m not sure I even see an issue here. If Israel is your issue, you vote for Mark Kirk. There is no question what to do. As one of the few Democrats writing here, I look at other issues.

My choice for Congress must be pro choice. Mark Kirk wins here.

My choice for Congress must be progressive on the environment. Mark Kirk stands to the left of Seals.

My choice for Congress should take a progressive stance with legislation on the mortgage foreclosure issue, which is at the core of our economic situation. Seals stands with President Bush while Mark Kirk’s proposal is nearly identical to the one posited by Barney Frank.

So, when I go to vote for the more liberal candidate, this Democrat has to forget the party labels and go with Mark Kirk. He, not the DailyKos darling, is the liberals’ choice.

Well Anon 8:27, while I agree with you 150%, I don't believe that I'd identify Mr. Kirk as a liberal! What Congressman Mark Kirk most definitely IS is an elected leader on issues that are important to most of the voters in this district. Actually, his stance on issues is appealing to people nation-wide. I'm pleased that you can see thru the nasty robo-calls that have proliferated lately. Mr. Kirk is what he has always been: a thoughtfully, very independent leader we are proud to return to Congress each cycle. Glad to have you on the team!

Anon 8:27- thanks for reading, and you're far from the only Democrat here. My psychic powers (OK, my sitemeter) tell me that LOTS of Dems check out TA on a daily basis. We even have regular hits from the DNC and DCCC, although I doubt they are the ones leaving positive comments about Mark Kirk. That's more than OK, though, as I want everyone in Washington to make no mistake about the depth of support that Kirk has here in the 10th District. They'd be better off taking their Seal Fund and finding better uses for it.

Oh TA - you know i'm one of your biggest DemFans.

Hey, TA, I am pleased to read that the other guys do check this Blog! What they're going to understand is that our Congressman does, indeed, have broad-based support in this district, that the pro-Israel community is very much in tune with his leadership, that JACPAC continues to endorse him because his record on their key issues: separation of church and state, choice, and Israel is unblemished. He's the real deal and his votes on issues can't be disputed. Aren't you glad that the catwoman bounced you off that now very irrelevant and vicious site so that you could create this amazing place for ALL of us!

Team America said...

No, I'm still pissed off, but I'm glad you like the Blog!

The best revenge will be re-electing Mark Kirk.

Don't be pissed off, consider all that her "bouncing" has created, not just with this great Blog but with the demise of her hate-filled, viciously slanted, over the top garbage. Nobody pays attention to that loser. And for good reason. She's irrelevant, pointless, and has her few buddies in her 'amen' corner. So, TA, this has been a lot of work for you, I know, but the rewards are plenty. And when the DCCC folks stop by, just look at what they're reading!
Way to go!

Dan Seals? Dan Seals? Oh, you mean that guy who hasn't updated his website since the day after the primary? The one who now seems to be running a completely invisible campaign?

Dan Seals, emerge from the shadows and show your face!
