And the Caption Contest Winner is...

It was a very tough decision among all the excellent entries for the funniest caption for this Dan Seals picture. I really tried to pick not only one I thought was funny, but really meshed well with the "say what?" look on Seals' face. And the winner is...

"I have to go to Ellen's house? Can't she just mail her donation like the rest of the kooks?"

As submitted by frequent TA commentor "Badge of Honor." BOH is another refugee from Ellen's Blog, and I found BOH's comment especially funny in light of Ellen's recent post about the party she threw at her house for Dan. It remains to be seen if this celebration was a bit premature depending on how the primary battle with Jay Footlik comes out, but we shall see...

LOL....great choice! And I'll bet Ms. Shrill's cat was on hand to make sure that Dan brought the appropriate treats in exchange for the goodies she provided. This caption IS the winner!

TA: No live blogging from the tenth dems rally?

Shocking.

Anon 3:48- even assuming I could sneak in, I doubt I could keep my lunch down. Ellen appears to be doing a far better job than I could anyway, considering I would have to stop every few lines for a snarky comment, and wouldn't be able to catch up. It's all variations on the theme of Bush=Baaaaaddd! anyway.

I did note that Durbin endorsed Seals today; I'm trying to decide if this was long-ago planned as a timing issue to give him a boost just before the primary, or whether it means they are worried that Footlik is much closer than Seals will admit, no matter what his polling data supposedly shows.

If Durbin was on board from the beginning, why not endorse Seals at the same time as Link, Garrett and the rest of the peanut gallery and try to knock out Footlik before he started?

On the other hand, it could work against Seals to some degree, as Durbin is one of the most liberal members of the senate. 10th District independents and moderates may shudder a little at the thought of voting for a guy like Seals whose status as the Dem machine candidate gets more obvious with every step in this campaign.

They endorsed Dan today because it's when people will start paying attention, and it gives him maximum wattage at this little revival they had. Also sunday so no media competition and lots of easy access for bored trib reporters.

It puts an end to Jay K street Footlik and we wish him well with lobbying and ask he never again think we are so foolish as to take a d.c. insider using the district for political ambition over the war hero, district do-good dude and all all around great guy Mark Steven Kirk, the soon to be 5th term congressman from Illinois.

I just left Ellen a love letter to dampen her enthusiasm. After we snuff dan out she's gonna have a lot of time on her hands.

Good for you, Anon 4:47. Let's see if your comment at Ellen's stays up. Usually, the only anti-Ellen/Seals/Dem agenda comments that are left up are the ones she can use to make a point that benefits her, or ones that are so goofy that they make repubs look nutty. I'm betting your comment is neither of those, so it may have a short shelf life. Be sure to let us know if you get deleted.

Don't forget that the 10th District hasn't had a Dem representative for 7 years and it hasn't prompted Ellen to give up and take up knitting or some other more worthwhile pursuit. When Dan loses, she and LBG will simply tee up the next loser to circle around. Maybe it'll be Jay- that would be funny to watch.

TA, the 10th hasn't had a Dem for more than 27 years, not just seven.

Righto, but even though she's pushing 50, Ellen obviously hasn't been blogging for 27 years. Although I can't imagine how she filled all those empty hours before Al Gore invented the Blogosphere.
