Lake County GOP Out In Force At Libertyville Days

I spent the morning doing the Libertyville parade, which is always fun. The local GOP was well-represented. Strangely, there was nary a Dem to be seen in the parade (as far as TA could tell), although I heard they have a booth. I guess Dems figure they only have to come out during election years. Republicans, on the other hand, understand that they have to make an investment in the community and stick around for the long haul, not come out just when they are looking for votes.

Here are some of my better pix, courtesy of my trusty Blackberry:

Below is Judge Wally Dunn, Congressman Mark Kirk, a supporter of Justice Mary Schostok, and Sheriff Mark Curran

Here's Libertyville Township GOP Chairman John Emerson getting the awesome GOP float ready.

Below is State Representative Ed Sullivan, Jr. and longtime supporter Adam Beeson.

Here's Young Republicans President Collin Corbett and Kris Duffy (State Senator Dan Duffy missed the parade because he had 'flood repair' duty back at home)

Here's State Representative Candidate Dan Sugrue and his team, getting ready to march.

Below is the car driven by the team of Justice Mary Schostok and Ann Jorgensen, both of whom are running for retention to the Illinois Appellate Court.

This is Ed (didn't catch his last name), Donna O'Leary, and Ant Simonian, who is Executive Director of the Lake County Republican Federation.

Below are Lisa and Rod Drobinski and Justice Mary Schostok

Here's County Board Member Ann Maine, with our Sheriff, Mark Curran.

Finally, here's one more view of the GOP float just as it's about to get going.

The Dems had a booth, too. I know we had a few people walking in the parade, but I was not there.

I said the Dems had a booth. I saw no one marching, although someone said they saw Del Parra in a car with a sign that indicated he was running for County Board.

So there was no Dan Seals? No Lauren Beth Gash? And I'll bet you're going to say that the catwoman was absent as well. So who was handling the booth? Marching in parades must be relegated to election years only one would think. With all the members of the 10th Dems eagerly wanting to wave the flag, one would have thought they'd dominate a parade like the one in Libertyville today.

Lauren Beth earned the scum of the century award in the 2000 Highland Park 4th of july parade when she put the only kirk for congress supporter, 89 year old louise greenabaum at the back of the parade to be pushed in a wheelchair alone.

Adam Beeson looks good. He was one of the first all-stars who worked to elect Kirk in 2000 along with Jim Mckiernan, patrick, mcgovern, cholly, reed and some others.

Only the beginning!

Happy Father's Day, TA. I hope you take today to just enjoy being a dad. Forget the political insanity and just relax.

Thanks for the great pictures from yesterday's Libertyville parade. I heard from several who attended that our Congressman was cheered and applauded as never before. The usually laid back residents showed their approval and respect for Mark. Nice to hear. I'm sure that the upcoming 7 4th of July parades will also find many who will recognize and applaud what he does for all of us in this district and beyond.
The carping, deriding, partisan hacks who have invaded your blog must be shrugging their shoulders and shouting their bah, humbugs these days. Let's just keep up the momentum and move forward, hopefully ignoring their incessant rants and raves which are falling on increasingly deaf ears. Way to go, Ms. Gash and Gill.

Thanks Anon 11:33. Time to hang the political whip up for a few hours and enjoy being a father. And clean the house for company... :-(

on second thought...

Hey TA,

Dems had walkers in the parade...and they carried a cardboard cutout of Obama (you can't make this stuff up).

Check my FB profile for a pic from my Blackberry.

Off topic, but it appears that State Sen. Matt Murphy is running for Governor (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-illinois-governor-race-murphjun22,0,5359475.story)

I wonder if he stays in the race if kirk runs?

if lisa goes senate, mark has to beat this dope dillard that endorsed obama and won't be getting my vote, murphy and brady.

eric elk, what say you?

In response to the anonymous Republican poster suggesting that Lauren Beth Gash is powerful enough to cause an elderly woman to be placed at the back of the Highland Park parade in 2000, that's just silly. While attributing that much power to her may be flattering, it's simply not true. What is true is that she had a hundred marchers whereas Mark Kirk, as the poster pointed out, only had one.

Folks, I'm not really sure why we're arguing about LBG or what did or did not happen back in 2000. We all know what happened afterwards, and while LBG will never get over it, I suggest that the rest of us simply move on and look forward to a bright future for MSK.

Thanks TA. Who gives a you know what about Gash, Gill, the 10th Dems or their followers. Keeping our focus and our direction is what's important. 2000 is ancient history. Today is what counts. Clocks and people move forward. Let's keep that in mind, can we!
