Team America Gets Inside Local Dems' Heads: "Don't You Just Hate it When Repubs Ridicule Us?"

Looks like Team America continues to get inside the Dems' collective heads, and has them playing political defense, well in advance of the 2010 election.

It appears we struck a chord with the oddly named "Eighth District Democrats and Independents" (EDDI), who apparently saw our recent post on the great GOP showing at the Libertyville Days parade, including a GOP float, Congressman Mark Kirk, State Rep. Ed Sullivan, County Treasurer Bob Skidmore, Justices Mary Schostok and Ann Jorgensen, representatives from Dan Duffy's team, and candidates such as Dan Sugrue.

As we reported, not much happening on the Dem front at that parade, although an alert Collin Corbett (president of the Lake County Young Republicans) reported in that there were a skant few Dem walkers that we missed... but the best part was, instead of live candidates, they brought a cardboard cutout of President Barack Obama and marched with him. You can't make this stuff up:

So, if I were the Dems, I would collectively be feeling sheepish, too. It does seem like we got to them. Check out the following e-mail that an avid reader forwarded to me:

RE: Don't You Just Hate it When Repubs Ridicule Us?

If you just hate it when Republicans make fun of us,
you can do something about it July 4th and 5th!

Lake County Republicans have been heaping scorn on Democrats this week because we supposedly had fewer people in the Libertyville Parade than they did.

So let's show them what Democrats are made of and show up in droves for the Mundelein parade, Sunday July 5! Can we beat the Zion record of 118 marchers??? [snip]

Thanks in advance for helping support the Democratic and progressive voters in Lake County!

Well, I wish them luck. If you'd like to walk for EDDI, you can RSVP at illinoiseddi@hotmail.com or call 847-550-8631.

There. Never say I wasn't happy to help.

Mark Kirk News: The latest news about Mark Kirk is that there is no news about Mark Kirk, at least as to his plans for U.S. Senate. His love life is the subject of a light-hearted Politico post, though.

Mark Sanford and the Bizzaro Blog. Yes, we've heard about Governor Mark Sanford. Over at the Bizzaro world blog, they are pretty giddy about it, although they also note that we in Illinois had recent guv problems of our own. But maybe now that Patti B. has been kicked off the island, things will get back to normal for a while. At least with Sanford, we found out about his issues long before people got too excited about him as a possible presidential candidate in 2012. Although, if you'll recall, another adulterous president didn't do so badly, and his wife ended up with a pretty good job, too.

Is Libertyville even in the Eight District....I think not.

I think EDDI has been trying to fill a vacuum of Dem leadership and is out their spreading their propaganda wherever they can.

That cutout of Obama is priceless. Do you suppose they had them mass produced and will be used in every 4th of July parade in the country? And do you think that the marchers will be carrying those damn Che-Obama things with the green fuzzy stuff growing out of the top of his head? It's SO good for laughs that I hope they keep it up - forever.

Ryan- people are grasping at straws to try to predict what Mark will do. Remember what we've said before:

Those who talk, don't know.

Those who know, don't talk.

I'm sure we'll all know soon enough. Patience, grasshopper.

josh kraushar, the guy from politico, predicted congressman footlik would represent us then that congressman seals would be our man in d.c. HAH! So take it with a grain of salt.

TA as I've said earlier, you are a force in lake county and we'd be better served with your energy in springfield. Think of how crazy ellen would get if we floated your name!

Foklaes, Ellen IS crazy, she's off the reservation on a good day, so by floating TA for anything might just do what we all hope for. Her latest attack on Mr. Kirk for his Iran gas sanctions just proves who she is and what she is. So, yes, let's get a draft TA petition going as quickly as possible. I like this idea.

When someone starts a sentence by "At least Governor Sanford..." it suggests that something that cannot be defended is about to be rationalized or defended.

I find this to be unique because if a Democrat went astray, in the US of A (maybe Sanford likes CAFTA and NAFTA after all), he'd be tarred, feathered, and kicked out of office faster than you can say Yosemite Sam.

Also, for the Party of supposedly superior morals on which to base all legislation, to say Sanford is better than Blago, this demonstrates relative morality and shifty values.

Maybe, before being so giddy about what Dem's supposedly lack, TA should figure out why Vitter and Burton are STILL in office, why Jack Ryan wasn't vetted, and how effective abstinence education works in Alaska.

To use TA's 'logic,' at least Blago hasn't had an affair. You see, its laughable!

One thing I find reassuring about the Dem's is that there is definitely a variety of beliefs, an open tent if you will, where radical beliefs and a propensity to label (racist, unpatriotic, shallow, etc.) does not exist or at least is not the norm (maybe when referring to the Party of Rush, Sean, and Coulter, norm isn't the proper term).

Also, Michael Steele essentially said 'not again' when hearing about Mr. Sanford. Not exactly a rousing endorsement. Doesn't this conflict with the Grand Old Party that knows better and can tell women what healthcare procedures to have, when deficit spending is ok and when its not (tax cuts for the wealthy is another form of spending for those of you scoring at home).

Anon 7:36,

You've got to be kidding me! "If a Democrat went astray in the US of A he'd be tarred, feathered and thrown out of office?"

Senator Ted Kennedy and Chappaquidick? Continues to be re-elected....

Congressman Barmey Frank and a male prostitution ring run out of his apartment? Continues to be re-elected....

Congressman Mel Reynolds and his sexual indiscretion with a 15 year old intern? Left the Congress to serve time in jail...then pardoned at the request of Senator Dick Durbin by President Bill Clinton...

President Bill "I like my cigars" Clinton....

and the list goes on and on and on and on...

and what about the tax evaders appointed to the Obama administration....

You opened the door Anonymous and I just closed it!

1. Beware of josh kraushaar, Lynn Sweet, and the Highland Park news as mark goes forward. Kraushar is a hack that boozes with democrat staffers at the hawk n'dove (a d.c. drinking establishment) and has never had anything smart or pleasant to say about Mark. Lynn Sweet is rahm emanuels butt buddy and will hurt mark in every way possible to keep her west wing scoop line available. In 2000 when mark ran, she and her dead colleuge, steve neal wrote every nasty thing they could about mark (literally using the talking points of the extremist feminazi group EMILYS LIST word for word), predicting he would lose the primary, anyone seen Mark Damicsh or shawn margaret donnelly lately? and definitley get thumped by gash. FAIL. The HP News never endorsed mark for some bum named lachman inthat primary. They are susan garrett's pr staff.

2. You need to run for stateoffice ta. I am a MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR hater of the state party largely because they are a bunch of ineffective wimps taking up space, and your energy and leadership would be the shot in the arm, republicans like me are starving for. Dapper Dan Duffy, your former law school roomate could show you the ropes, and again think of the heart attack kiss my ellen would have. Just float your name, put up an exploratory comittee, get something in the daily herald, and use some anti-chipmunk/garrett/link talking points.

3. Glad the kirk staffer who took me on lastnight about how much of a misreble failure the moderate republicans in congress have been gotthe message and didn't make a comeback.

FOKLAES- thanx for your enthusiasm and support- I wouldn't rule out running for an office like state rep someday, but it's not the job it used to be, and there's a lot of 'pull' at home, as we say. Right now, I'm trying to concentrate on helping Kirk figure out his best bet going forward and supporting the rest of the Lake County GOP from behind the scenes.

BTW, Duffy and I went to undergrad at Augustana together, not law school. Dan has fantastic business skills which we desperately need in Springfield, much more so than another lawyer, and I don't think he has a law degree.

For the Mundelein parade, are they going to carry a statue of the Obama that women and children can run up to and kiss the feet of?

TA-
I would have to imagine that you, Lou, and folkaes are going to have to get out for GOP pitchforks, Mark Kirk just voted for a bill that will amount to an increase in our energy prices. He voted with pelosi on a big tax bill (mike pence from Indiana--one of the nuttier GOPers in the house--dubbed it the cap and tax bill) and it's going to drive business out. Response? These are all GOP talking points and good old boy Kirk just crossed on your beliefs. I
both shocked and thrilled that he voted for it--but you three must be pissed after railing about taxocrats for a month.

Thoughts?

Actually Colonial, I support environmental issues. True conservatives want to conserve the environment. Only the Democrats could complicate matters with all that cap stuff and breast beating about "going green." What is not mentioned is that a whole bunch of their buddies will profit over that nonsense while individuals pay more to line buddy pockets. Tony Rezko must be in tears while languishing in prison right now. All that $$$$ to be made here with little to show for the environment.

Proves my point again, Democrats cannot govern. Proof? Springfield? Cook County Government? City of Chicago? And now Washington, D.C.

Perhaps you Democrats need to pull out YOUR pitchforks. light your torches and go after your elected officials. (Why do I think of that scene from "Young Frankenstein" after writing that?) I understand a whole flock of Democrats (including Foster) voted against the bill. I thought all you Democrats were pro-environment? You sure fooled me! What happened? Why do so many Democrats keep bolting from Pelosi's fine leadership? (Snark fully intended)

I see that Ellen listed all the Democrats who voted "no." She failed to list the Republicans who voted "yes." How come? Is she choking on Kirk's vote? Or trying to find a way to attack him for supporting a bill she desperately favored herself?

Labels. Always getting in the way of facts with you Democrats!

1. King Louis Astaves, It has been agreed upon by TA, Kellyann (a rising corinne wood?) and I that Ellen is only to be recognized as pain in my ellen or catwoman on this blog. Not just ellen, that name doesn't do her ego and incompetence full justice.

2. Colonial, Start to get nightmares, I'm talking elephant herd sized nightmares because Haley Barbour,a MAJOR republican hitter who comes from the great state of mississippi (where the republican women don't look gross like some local dem women we may discuss on this blog, trust me or spend 5 minutes at cap lounge next to longworth), has been touting the need for the gop to build a broad tent. Google charlie rose and barbour and you'll see the last time he said that 1993, he lead us to take back congress and to whip dem tail all over america. Conservatives want to WIN badly. Nothing united you like old W. Bush, nothing unites us like your corrupt, big spending, baloney progressive agenda. Mark may be a political wimp here in the 10th for putting together a political organization a fraction of the size of john porters, but he's better than that hack alexi and if there's blood in the water, look out because we were after all in power for much of the last 2 decades and know how to win.

3. TA it saddens me you won't consider moving from chief of the blogospher to chief of our state legislature. As I said earlier, your passion, energy and vision are desperately needed if we are to end the reign of terror cast upon us by the corrupt and evil democrats and their enablers in the state gop headed by mckenna and his merry band of ne'er do well'ers. I respect your wife, however and don't want mrs. TA to get upset.
