I just got an e-mail from Dan Seals stating he's in for IL-10. Most of his old campaign team has left for other posts, so who he gets on board (and how he pays them) will be interesting. Somebody better tell him that his strategy from the last two cycles of Kirk=Bush doesn't work if he's not running against Kirk.
Does Seals now become the presumed front-runner over Michael Bond?
State Rep. Julie Hamos may be in the race as well, and may get support from Susan Garrett. (h/t Capitol Fax Blog).
More on these IL-10 developments later.

Bond already has a team, Hamos will have the militant left, and Dan is the pup that won their hearts. I see a nasty 3 way leaving the dems fractured and bitter. Leaving it open for a republican.

Really i haven't stopped laughing since i read this.
The Dem's in this race will get all the publicity. Laugh all you want, but Kirk moving on to run for the Senate makes this a very likely Dem pick-up. Kirk had a very strong base of supporters in the 10th and was/is a prodigious fundraiser, and he still only got 53% of the vote in two races against "pup". A lesser candidate will lose against whomever the Dem's field in the general election.
The race is not totally gone. FOKLAES has personally spoken to a very very strong candidate in the kirk mold who can raise the 4-5 million necessary to win and is preparing to enter the race and will embody the sort of vision and leadership that we saw in Mark 10 years ago when he wasn't even sure if he was going to endorse Bush or mccain in the primary.
Also do not forget that the blago trial will be a 24/7 show ALL of next year. It will be running on every newspaper cover(if they still exist), every t.v. station, every day. This will provide Republicans with an inordinate amount of free advertising. Republicans next year also won't for the first time since really the George H.W. Bush administration here be saddled with either newt gingrich or george w.bush and with an unpopular democrat.
Also remember that porter only won his seat for congress when carter came into office, and didn't have to deal with the watergate aftermath.
