Obama Prepares for Greek Coronation While His Campaign Continues to Trample On Free Speech

While Barack Obama is going to be crowned tonight in a mock-up of a Greek temple (no joke, check out Powerline here), here's a glimpse of how an Obama presidency would trample on the rights of people to engage in free political discourse. Stanley Kurtz, the man primarily responsible for pushing the release of the William Ayers files from the University of Illinois, was the subject of an organized campaign by Obama supporters to call in to WGN radio to protest the fact that the station was discussing the subject. Ayers, if you don't know, is a "home-grown" domestic terrorist who regrets that he wasn't able to do more damage before he was stopped, and was instrumental in placing Barack Obama as the chairman of a community group that ended up doling out about $100 million in grant money to like-minded ideological groups for the sake of improving education, with little to show for it. This comes on the heels of a series of counter-ads and a complaint to the Department of Justice regarding an ad run by an independent political group linking Obama to Ayers.

See some more on the Obama-Ayers connection here, including Obama's statement that Ayers is just "some guy" who lives in my neighborhood.

What so scary that people can't even discuss this subject, Mr. Obama? If these accusations are unfounded, why not combat them with the truth, out in the open? If you have no association with him, the truth will out. Won't it?

In that vein, perhaps more important even than the issue of Team Obama's tactics to shield the truth, is the basic issue of Obama's association with Ayers. As the conservative National Review puts it:

Have you ever been a friend or business associate of a terrorist? Not someone who, to your shock and horror, turned out secretly to have bombed government buildings. No, the question is whether you’ve ever befriended an unreconstructed radical whose past was well known to you when you entered his orbit and walked through doors he opened for you. Have you been chummy with an unapologetic terrorist who, years after you’d known and worked closely with him, was still telling the New York Times he regretted only failing to carry out more attacks — and that America still “makes me want to puke”? Barack Obama has.

Read the whole article here. Scary stuff, with a capital "S"

What a great convention:

- Obama loses momentum during the convention.

- Its all about the Clintons, not Obama.

- Gov. Blagojevich was disinvited, then vetoed the ethics bill.

- Obama's mentor Emil Jones called Hillary supporters Uncle Toms.
- Then Obama had to spend yesterday denying that Springstein and Bon Jovi were not opening for him.

- Now the truth about Obama and "mad bomber" Ayers is coming out.

No wonder Seals distanced himself by canceling a visit to Obamaland.

TA, I heard the WGN Milt Rosenberg program last night and coudn't sleep last night. The people who were calling in demanding that this attack on Obama stop right now made me cringe. To your point, TA, why CAN'T this all come out if there is truly nothing to hide? What you've just posted should make everyone in this country take more than a second look at our newly minted 'messiah'. No wonder the deal hasn't been sealed. Perhaps there is a growing doubt that the dots just don't connect with this guy. Listening to Joe Biden talk about all of our junior senator's accomplishments made me wonder who on earth he was talking about. And I also wondered what happened to Biden's 'memory' since he stated not so long ago that Obama was just not ready for the most important job on the planet.

TA, let's see if the media will pick up anything about this ugly chapter in history with Ayars and Dohrn. Kind of makes you sick, doesn't it.

All Hail Caesar Obamacus!

We all seem to forget that all this "experience" Joe Biden has comes from chairing the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

He obtained this chairmanship through his Senate seniority, not from any particular expertise in the subject matter.

With Obama/Biden its all smoke and mirrors.

I know that there are some liberals and progressives who read this blog and the comments. I am all for diversity of viewpoint, but if this doesn't send the left wingers to Ralph Nader's campaign in utter horror about what is happening, I think they will have to admit that they are nothing more than machine Democrats. It is high time that Republicans and conservatives start talking about freedom of speech and stop relying on liberals and progressives to worry about it. This anti-freedom of speech movement is very, very troubling.

This is off the subject but I do wonder how many hungry people the dnc could feed with all the money spent on obama's speech.

I am watching THE ONE and I gotta tell you he is a compulsive liar - nothing short of that indeed. I cannot believe he is taking credit for the success of the surge by stating his plan to pull out of Iraq was embraced by the Iraqi government - has he gone mad?

And his commitment to Afghanistan while McCain supported muddling through the region? Is he nuts and more importantly are his supporters dopes or what?

But what I love the most is his commitment to a 21st century education for our children - he is so full of XFJDKFJASDKJ - he is the endorsed candidate of the IEA, NEA and every other teachers union that has absolutely NO INTEREST in the education of our children but merely protected the interest of their members. ONLY JOHN MCCAIN supports choice and vouchers for quality education. OBAMA DOES NOT - HE SENDS HIS KIDS TO PRIVATE SCHOOLS while his less affluent neighbors are stuck with the CPS system, burdened with its failure. Break the unions and give the kids a real education. Why do the southsiders send their kids to the Catholic schools where teachers recieve 1/2 the salaries and perks of the public schools? Because they want a safe environment filled with teachers committed to teaching not padding their pockets.

Not so long ago, someone told me the only thing Obama changed in Illinois was his underwear - she was right. I hope that word gets out...

TA---I never thought u would permit blatant rasicm on your site. And, for the record, your man McCain is going to need a lot more than a war record and some used up mud to top that speech. Obama's speech tonite turned every argument the GOP has made and turned it upside down. This speech will go down as one of the best in history. Yes We Can!!

Until Next Time,

CC- is right about a racial comment I didn't catch late last night. That has been deleted. Let's not have that happen again folks. If I have to start banning people going into the election I will, but while I don't mind us being the World Police (no one else can do it), I'd rather not have to be the Blog Police.
