With the gerrymandered new Congressional map so heavily tilted in favor of the Democrats, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, or DCCC, is salivating at the chance to retake some very serious ground, if not regain control, in the U.S. House of Representatives. And that path leads right through Illinois. Politico takes a look at the battleground in an article today.
What does this mean for Illinois? It means that this will be ground zero for an influx of campaign cash and support from the national Dems like we have never seen before.
You might think that the DCCC would be a little more cautious about throwing millions of dollars at IL-10 after wasting that much on three-time loser Dan Seals, but that was then (with a less favorable map) and this is now.
This is going to be a very long cycle for us Illinois Republicans...

Lake County has been Republican controlled since the beginning. Second Highest property taxes in the state, 16th in the nation. Nepotism is rampant at all levels of local government. A golf course carries more weight than a Nursing Home, corruption at the Forest Preserve covered up to name a few. I know many here talk about Crook County. Wake up folks, this is Crook County Republican Style!
Disagree. I think this election will probably be the closest since 2000 nationally with Democrats taking a bath in the US Senate, us keeping the house with a seat or 2 gain and white house as a jump ball. Obama 2012 is not Obama 2008 or Obama 2004. He has a record now and it's not a great one. There are a lot of independents who have soured on him because of gas prices, spending and the economy, even in Illinois and Republicans have things to run against him with that play well with soft democrats and independents. There will be a lot more energy on our side to get rid of him, then there will be less democrats coming out for him. He benefited from a lot of things last time and the biggest help for dold will be the moderate republicans who supported obama out of frustration with the party recoiling at him next year now that they've found he's a big government anti-business president.
FOKLAES
I agree with FOKLAES on almost every point...however I still think that the local Obama energy will be tough to overcome. I do think that Republican's will save a couple of those seats, but I think overall we will see at least two or three of our Republican's members of the Illinois delegation knocked out of office. This re-map is really devastating.
oh and Anonymous....you constantly try to sling this BS about Lake County, but the reality is you have no idea about the realities of Lake County. I am assuming you are the same genius who claimed that 90 percent of the candidates for local office were Republicans. Someday you will be able to remove your blue blinders and actually be able to assess what is the reality around you.
