Ilya Sheyman First Up With Video Ad in IL-10; Criticizes Brad Schneider's Republican Contributions in Press Release

Young Iyla Sheyman, the presumptive front-runner in the Democratic competition to take on Republican Congressman Bob Dold in Illinois' 10th Congressional District, is up with a video spot, touting his "American Dream" background story and "progressive" agenda.

Politico describes this as a "persuasion-level buy", but I will confess I don't know exactly what that means. So far, this appears to be a cable TV-only ad.

His top competition, Brad Schneider, has more cash in the bank than young Ilya does right now, so look for a response from Schneider soon, but Sheyman got in first and will get the press pops, so props to Sheyman. Seems Schneider has been playing catch-up from day one since he got in the race after Sheyman, and has yet to break ahead. With barely more than a month left, and everyone's mailboxes about ready to burst with campaign mail, will Scheider be able to stand out andbv pull ahead? We'll have to wait and see.

Sheyman is also pulling no punches against Schneider for his past contributions to Republican Mark Kirk and others, which based on what I'm reading and hearing from the Dems, seemed to be Scheider's big Achilles' Heel at this point. Sheyman's press release that heralded the new video stated plainly:

Sheyman is running against the more conservative Brad Schneider, who has a track record of supporting Republicans in past races. Brad Schneider donated to multiple Republican candidates for Federal office who were proponents of privatizing Social Security, ending Medicare and who opposed the Affordable Care Act. This includes a 2001 donation of $1000 to Rep Mike Rogers (R-MI), a 2002 donation of $1000 to Rep. Mark Kennedy (R-MN), a 2008 donation of $250 to Sen. Mike Johanns (R-NE), a 2009 donation of $250 to Sen. Robert Bennett (R-UT), and over $3,000$ in donations to Sen. Mark Kirk’s Congressional and Senate campaigns between 2002 and 2009.

Love it when those knives come out.

What's really curious to me is that I can't find anyone who will tell me what the Progressive Agenda is.

If it's so important why won't Ilya explain what it is?

I came across a reference to the BoldProgressives.Org site and while it still doesn't tell me what the Progressive Agenda is, it does tell me that it's got to be something whacky that I wouldn't agree with or support.

On the other hand, I did find that the Conservative Agenda is pretty succint when it comse to government...

1. Stay out of my life
2. Stay out of my business
3. Stay out of my wallet

Now that's an agenda I can and do embrace!

Keith,

The progressive agenda is:
(1) Tell you what you can buy and must buy;
(2) Let 25-year old d-bags who have never met a payroll tell you what is best for you; and
(3) take your money so that they can tell you what to do.

Sound fun?

Well no wonder no one wants to talk about the Progressive Agenda!
Sheesh!

In response to another anonymous..... SO FUNNY! Stay out of my life? The Republicons are dictating women's rights all over this nation! Between abortion and birth control it is a joke. So, stay out of my life is such a joke. When did women regress back to the 1800's? What about the religious issues that are part of our rights but not being followed by GOP leaders?

Stay out of my wallet? Hmmm...... I have questions there. It does seem several GOP candidates for POTUS seem to be changing their minds on this as well as Congress. Unless we count Grover as a Congressman. Why? Because many and most voters are MIDDLE CLASS. They do not like seeing jobs going overseas and corporate execs and Wall Street making profits while the Middle Class goes broke.

Stay out of my business? Most business has MOVED OVERSEAS TO TAKE TAX DEDUCTIONS which has hurt our economy more than anything. Deregulation of EPA rules will poison our waters, our food supplies, our soils. The government should be involved in business to make sure our economy is running again. PROTECT OUR JOBS AND OUR LAND AND WATER! WHAT WILL YOU LEAVE YOUR CHILDREN? WITHOUT THIS MONEY WON'T MEAN SQUAT!

I am not a Progressive. I am an Independent. I am also a high wage earner but happy to pay extra til this country gets out of the rut it is in. But when I see the losers that are running for the GOP positions they do not have the backing of the middle class. Without middle class getting back into the economic ballgame, this nation is finished.

My father fought bravely in WWII. My grandmother worked as a Rosie. AT THAT TIME THE COUNTRY GAVE BACK.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS COUNTRY THAT WE BECAME SO SELFISH AND AYN RAND LIKE? WE ARE A MIXED CAPITALISTIC COUNTRY. WE HAVE TURNED INTO A NATION OF REALITY TV, SELFISHNESS AND ETHICS THAT ARE DISGUSTING FROM OUR CONGRESS. Don't get me started on PACS.

Again, the Conservative Agenda is total BS.
