Congressman Mark Kirk Raises $2.3 Million in Q2

Politico is reporting that Congressman Mark Kirk raised $2.3 million in the second quarter, even more than in Q1 ($2.2 million).

The Politico story also quoted a source close to the Kirk campaign as stating that Kirk raised $1 million in June alone, which is, of course, when Kirk was suffering a series of negative headlines and press coverage regarding mistakes he made in citing his military record, for which he has apologized.

It will be very telling to see how Alexi Giannoulias, his Democratic opponent, did in his Q2 fundraising. Unless Alexi shows a big Q2 with an impressive June, his inability to capitalize on Kirk's misfortunes will let a lot of wind out of his sails.

Wow. Kirk accelerated his fundraising even after the military flap.

Shows the people of Illinois are ready for a change and it isn't Alexi.

More than outstanding. When you consider the economic condidtions, the flap of the past month, this clearly shows that the voters want Mark Kirk to know in tangible ways, way that he can use, that they want him in the Senate. Hats off to the Kirk team. No finer group anywhere.

I think Kirk will be busy explaining the series of lies when we get closer to election day. It is not surprising that he raised so much money. Look at Sarah Palin, she had raised even more.

Kirk can not win. He has lost his credibility after so many lies. Even if someone assumes that he was being careless and all these were "errors", he is not suitable to be senator. Giannoulias will win despite his own problems, because his opponent is very weak now. The republicans would have had a much better chance with someone else, but now it is too late.

Poor Blue Wind Bag just can't accept that like life itself, this campaign has moved forward. All except Blue. The fact that Kirk presented himself to the entire media corp on Tuesday and emerged as stronger than ever, Blue Bag just whines and wails. You and your Alexi crew are left in the dust. People don't send hard to come by support to anyone they feel doesn't have a chance. When will Alexi announce his financial report? Kirk has way more positives on his resume that voters can see and appreciate. Kirk has an enviable record as the Congressman from the 10th District that voters have approved for the past 5 elections. And Alexi? Not a damn thing that's appealing.
Have a Happy 4th, Blue. We're proud of Kirk's proven military accomplishments recognizing the fact that he, Mark Kirk, knows that freedom has never been free. And Alexi? He was playing basketball. Nice touch.

Hey Anon,
I am not a big Alexi supporter, but I will certainly vote for him. He is much better than Kirk and he has not lied for years. After so many lies about his military record and an imaginary teaching record, it is hard to believe anything that Kirk says. Integrity is a big deal.

Umm, when your screen name starts with "Blue" or "Red" you are giving away yourself as a partisan. Hence, "Blue Wind" - you lose credibility as being able to look at this race objectively.

News that Giannoulias is hitting the airwaves with the "anti-Kirk" ad revealed this week are hitting the press.

That will hurt--bit time.

What's all this babble on catwoman's blog about Kirk's mother's friends "staging a fake wedding"?

There have been "murmurs" about something similar recently but it wasnt about his marriage 10 yrs ago.

Kirk's wedding was at the beck's house in wilmette on a perfect evening overlooking the lake. The best was the h'ors deouvers served the november before;

defeated lauren beth gash.

PS every year usa today does a poll to find out who the happiest americans are. They are generally married, conservative, middle to upper middle class and come from the south and west.

in other words catlady fits none of the demographics.

You can say what you want about lee goodman but at least the guy had a wife, a life, a family and didn't wear a scowl 365 days a week.

happy independence day.

It'll be interesting to see how much of that money came from Brincat and his employees. Sorry, but this ain't goin away.

FOKLEAPS--

conservatives are generally happy because they save their negativity and bigotry for others (homosexuals, minorities, those who wish to have a women's right to choose, and anyone else who disagrees). Conservatives say they love America, but d@mn do they love to hate Americans

I'll bet that "loving" and non-judgmental note didn't come from a Conservative. lol

Anon 3:27,
Conservatism is simply a failed selfish ideology. There is nothing good about it. It is driven by bigotry, discrimination, intolerance and disregard for other human beings.

I'll bet Conservatives are probably happier because they believe in the strength of a traditional family, where roles are more clearly defined and respected.

Families where men and women are secure in themselves, in their roles, and in their relationship-- and are therefore willing to work together to support one another because they love each other and for the sake of future generations, rather than against one another due to an incessant need to prove themselves "worthy" to the rest of the world.

In other words, they work not only to meet today's goals, but to also leave behind a legacy that hopefully reflects the traditional values of the Country they love so much.

Furthermore, most Conservatives are willing to defend privacy in consenting adults' bedrooms, including their own.

I also believe that a great portion--maybe even a majority of those serving in our Military--come from Conservative families, as well.

Anon 4:57--

You know that the same conservatives who wanted to "defend privacy" filed briefs in Lawrence v. Texas in favor of keeping laws banning Sodomy. Sounds like the GOP really wants to stay out of our bedrooms...

I hear Dold supports anti-Sodomy laws. But we'll never know because he refuses to give us his position on any social issue, including abortion, gun control and the civil right of gay marriage. PROVE ME WRONG. I would LOVE a like to his website telling me how he feels about these vital issues.

The entire Country doesn't live in Texas.

But you're not being too irrational or judgmental by making that statement, are you?

Anonymous said...

And I'm even willing to bet that there might be some things that go on in the privacy of a Conservative couples' bedroom that might even make you blush. Not everyone wears flannel nightgowns that they flip over their heads for a few minutes once the lights go out.

But you just keep believing your stereotypes that must obviously make you feel better--and superior--for some reason.

I have a new favorite trivia game.

I think even the guys at Augustana could get these questions right

Thanks for yesterday's news, 5:19.

You need to keep up with the game if you want to keep playing.

It doesn't take a 98th ranked law degree from DePaul to know that Bingo Bob Dolt, with a t, who is endorsed by phyllis schlafly, illinois right to life, and is more conservative than Kirk. Bingo Bob is wrong for the 10th.

To anon 4:53 from July 3rd: Thank you for that myopic definition of a conservative. But do you realize that by your definition Mark Kirk isn't a conservative? Or, at a minimum, he's a failed conservative, i.e. he failed to sustain a normal relationship. Under your definition, that would also exclude, Ronald Reagan, Newt Gngrich, and Rush Limbaugh. But hey, keep up that ol' alienating everyone but Ozzie and Harriet mentality; you're a progressive candidate's best friend.

Mark Kirk is NOT a Conservative. Mark Kirk IS a Moderate guy with a record to prove it. Some of the posters on this site are shooting something deadly. I believe this Post was to acknowledge the fact that Mark Kirk's campaign raised a more than spectacular 2.3 MILLION dollars in this second quarter. The rest of the crap is just that. Crap. We're waiting to hear what Alexi raised with all that high priced talent that was sent in to help him. He's either going to blow the roof off everything or it's worse than his first quarter. Who's taking bets.

=Thank you for that myopic definition of a conservative.=

"Myopic"--impressive word that, and nice try at a spin, 3:55. Massive fail however.

None of the comments here were an attempt to "define" what a Conservative is. They were brought up as speculation within the context of "why are Conservatives" are happier per the report that someone on this thread mentioned earlier.

Reaching? Or just not very "thoughtful"?

=I believe this Post was to acknowledge the fact that Mark Kirk's campaign raised a more than spectacular 2.3 MILLION dollars in this second quarter. The rest of the crap is just that. Crap.=

OK, well if my comments are considered "crap", then I will vote for someone other than Kirk--and ask everyone I know to do the same.

Hope you know alot of Dems and Indies who do not speak "crap".

Anonymous said...

Especially conservative "crap".

Anonymous said...

I'll also ask this question:

If Kirk--as some of you claim--is such a thoughtful, moderate, Independent who (again based on the comments here) probably believes that the "crap" part of this discussion is "crap"...

...why didn't he run as an Independent, or better yet, a Democrat?

Might have been easier for him--not only to get elected to the Senate, but to actually "hold his head up" when he comes back to visit Illinois if he won?

Anonymous said...

Oh, the "bravado" the 2.3 Million has raised.

Quite a reflection on what's important to the Kirk Campaign.
