Cadigan On Low End of IL-10 Fundraising Race

Things are a bit crazy today but I wanted to let everyone know that GOP 10th District hopeful attorney Bill Cadgian has reported in for Q3 with about $37,000 raised from contributions and a $5,000 loan from himself. He has around $31,000 in the bank, which is close to Elliot Richardson (see post below), who has been working at this a lot longer. The Daily Herald has an article up now.

So, that leaves two-time loser Dan Seals as the very last major candidate in IL-10 to file anything. His results must be pretty shameful. The beauty of it is, we shall know shortly.

This is the wealthiest area of the state for GOP donors and you'd think with all the blago bs people would do a lot better. Cadigan has been around awhile and if he ran porters campaigns he got to know every major donor. We have a month to the holidays when everything goes to hell for 6 weeks so I doubt these folks can raise a ton more. Hamos outraised him 18-1. Game over.

The best news is hamos, this is the one we want.

Same thing could have been said about Kirk at this point in 1999. And he worked for Porter even longer than Cadigan did. Cadigan is clearly the most qualified when you see these candidates in person.

Cadigan needs to get out of the race. He is not a contender and with $31k cannot even come close to competing. If he stays in he will be the spoiler who helps Coulson sneak in as our Republican nominee.

Anon posters need to create names so we know who you are.

31k is enough for a poll and one month of rent for a campaign office. It's a pitifully low number. As for Mark, he had 2 things cadigan doesn't

1)6 more weeks in the spring-that primary ended in mid march

2)the porter endorsement which was gold. Porter has been gone 10 years now, and it's glow has worn off for Mark.

Maybe the Red Cross will come save us from Hamos.

Thx for the post! Definitely look forward to your analysis as more filings come through. Question abt this elliot - I remember reading in july that he raised $100k or so... Do we know how much people have raised in total? Judging from his webpage, he sounds a bit like an independent - any idea if any other parties (even as a token effort, obviously) are running??

Cadigan is the most qualified, underfunded GOP candidate in the race.

Should he win the primary? Absolutely.

Will he? With these initial figures, I am not so sure...

From watching the berkowitz tape the guy looks fine and a great person. The problem is, Hamos raised 545k, and that's without the biden/obama/rahm/pelosi/nutjob firepower she'll get february 5, if she defeats pup. You have to put together a great campaign and do things other than interviews with TA and candidate forums.

The other issue, is in 30 minutes the guy never mentions his strongest credential-porter, nor ever hones in on a message as to why he's running or an agenda in d.c.

When you look at the Hamos contributors one thing jumps right off the page: most don't live in the 10th CD. Sure hope they're all planning on joining Julie and her husband in the near future. Are there any shockers? Nope. I did note several of the former max pup supporters who seem to have jumped ship in favor of Hamos. I'd like to see some debates lined up so we can actually have a chance to hear these folks up close and personal. It's always fun waiting for the quarterly postings to see who's saying one thing and doing another. Seals is sure playing this one right down to the wire. Stay tuned. He will either come up with a number that will shock us or cause waves of laughter.

Foklaes, make up your mind: Either Porter is an asset or he has been gone 10 years and no one remembers him.
Berkowitz format and questioning style are all over the road and Cadigan did beautifully. The whole thing was like an infomercial for Cadigan.

I know some of you folks really like Cadigan, but you have to step back a second. The guy raised an amount that isn't enough for a competitive State Rep race. Can you imagine what the NRCC would think about this race if we nominate a candidate with only pennies in the bank.

At some point, Cadigan supporters have to recognize what Republicans are up against in the 10th.

Cadigan seems like a great guy, but he should drop if he doesn't get the Wheeling Township endorsement.

Anyone have any insight on whats' brewing in Wheeling?

how much do township endorsements really matter?

In debates you need to be able to communicate your message and credentials. It's called being ready for prime time. We're in the t.v. and twitter age. A free half hour without talking about his work for porter, poor form, especially since Porter's been a leader on health care and that was an issue.

Fascinating video on seals website we learn he went to Japan, drank saki, took pictures of random kids and people, made up a job interview at a think tank to get his wife (talk about a prologue to the future), see pictures of the wrong campus for one of his graduate schools (SAIS isn't in baltimore, Temkin-or is that degree a lie too?). No mention of any job-interesting for a guy who's been out of school for 15 years.

Cadigan raised $42k and was only an announced candiate for 5 days in September. He will sweep the newspaper endorsements and is the most likeable and knowledgable in person.
He ought to stay in because he would be the most effective congressman of this group.

Anon 8:02- I exchanged messages with Ruth O'Connell in Wheeling and she told me that they will vote on endorsements on Nov. 14th. But I don't have any feel for what way the vote is likely to go in any of the races. It's not really my neck of the woods.

Subtracting out the money that the candidates put in themselves, Coulson raised $128k, Green raised $75k and Cadigan raised $37k totaling $237k for the three combined. Dold raised $248k..... More than the other 3 candidates combined and almost twice as much as Coulson. Keep up the good work Team Dold. We are going to need a candidate who can raise money if we are going to win in the fall.

it doesn't matter where the money came from it is the bottom line that matters. Green at 304k and Dold at 250k look good. Cadigan has no chance with 40k to finance a respectable campaign operation or get his face on tv. Coulson is going to have a tough time raising money now that she's this far behind Dold and Green.

Kirk won in 2000 without any TV.

PapaGeorge said...

Kirk raised $300k in the primary and had one TV commercial with Porter.

Cadigan is not performing and should bow out.

Green is following the trend of 10th self-funders who lose

This is looking like Coulson vs Dold.

Cadigan will be able to raise enough money to stay in the race and should. Even if Dold continues his significant fundraising edge,it would be better for the Republicans in the 10th to have a competitive discourse on the issues to make sure that the eventual nominee won't crash and burn in the General. Let's see how everyone does under the klieg lights. Cadigan did very well in the Berkowitz interview.

I just watched the YouTube of Cadigan on the Berkowitz show (after watching the Buckeyes lose!). That was an impressive display of knowledge of the issues.
Cadigan likely becomes the media darling of the race as the underfunded but qualified candidate.

Where is the Berkowitz video everyone is talking about? Was it posted on this site?

There's also video of Julie Hamos basically demonstrating that she has no idea on foreign policy and reiterating the same talking points on Iran that the mullahs have been using.
