IL-10th Congressional District Primary Prognostications (UPDATED x2)

What's your guess as to the results in the 10th District primary between Dan Seals and Jay Footlik?

As a bonus question, predict the spread between Barack Obama over Hillary, and McCain over Romney, in Illinois. The Chicago Tribune reported polling that the frontrunner in each party (Obama and McCain, respectively), has about a 2-1 lead over their nearest competitor.

LAUGH OF THE DAY: As everyone knows, I go over to Ellen of the Tenth on a fairly regular basis (although I don't bother to comment anymore since she would quickly remove whatever I would post) to see what venom and sedition she is spreading about Republicans in general and Congressman Mark Kirk in particular. One anonymous commentor today stated said that Dan Seals has about as much foreign policy experience as any ten year old that just came back from Christmas vacation at Epcot. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Good one, whoever you were.

UPDATE #2: FINAL SEALS MAILER FROM THIS WEEKEND: Sorry it took a while, but here is what I assume is the last Seals mailer that went out over this weekend. Look at the second page and tell me if you think Seals is defraying mailing costs by promoting Panera Bread. Then read page three and see if you noticed what I noticed: Seals is back to calling himself a "Director" (capital "D") of GE Capital (say, is that the same company as "GE Commercial Finance", which is what he said before?).

Seals pulled this stunt some months ago, and we called him on it. In the intervening time, he's usually qualified that by stating that he was "Director of Marketing" which is an entirely different connotation than calling one's self a "Director," which, to everyone I've asked, would typically mean a member of the Board of Directors of a company, which for GE Capital, would indeed be impressive. So, it appears that, having dropped the "adjunct professor" claim, Seals was pretty desperate to fill in the resume gap and resorted to his previous misrepresentation. Will this guy ever learn???

UPDATE #1: IL GOP PROFESSOR-GATE PRESS RELEASE: The state Republicans are getting into the act on calling out Dan Seals for his campaign lies. On a very busy day, they still found time to send out the following press release:

Questions of Resume Padding, Residency Take Center Stage in Closing Week of Democratic Primary - Illinois GOP Joins Democrat Jay Footlik in Calling on Dan Seals to 'Get His Facts Straight'

CHICAGO – Dan Seals, bidding for a rematch with U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk (R-Highland Park), still does not live in the district he seeks to represent, cannot vote for himself in his primary race against Jay Footlik and now faces serious integrity questions -- just one day before Democratic primary voters cast their ballots in Illinois' Tenth Congressional District. When asked by the Chicago Tribune Editorial Board why he failed to move into the district after losing to Kirk in 2006, Seals responded, "I'm not a millionaire." (Chicago Tribune, December 11, 2007)

Last week, the Chicago Tribune, Daily Herald and Pioneer Press reported that Seals padded his resume in his official campaign biography. While his Web site describes Seals as a current "Adjunct Professor" at Northwestern University, Seals has yet to teach a class. He is scheduled to be an instructor for only 10 class sessions at the Northwestern Night School of Continuing Studies for Adult Education starting in April.

"We join with Jay Footlik in calling on Dan Seals to stop misleading voters," said ILGOP Spokesperson Lance Trover. "

Seals misled primary voters by falsely identifying himself as a "Northwestern Professor." Seals is unwilling to disclose his mystery list of clients and may not actually be a business consultant. The fellowship he supposedly held did not exist until 2003. And to top it all off, Seals cannot even vote for himself tomorrow because he still does not live in the district."

During his editorial board meeting with the Chicago Tribune, Seals was asked about his claim of being a "business consultant" and could not produce a list of clients. Additionally, Seals' Web site includes a long-time claim of being a Presidential Management Fellow (PMF) that is also misleading. The PMF program was founded in 2003 under an Executive Order issued by President Bush. Seals may have served as a Presidential Management Intern, a now defunct program, but could never have served as a PMF.

"Dan Seals likes to talk a lot about change -- he sure knows how to change his resume but he can't seem to figure out how to change his address," Trover said. "Residents of the Tenth Congressional District deserve straight answers to easy questions about a candidate's resume, residency and professional achievements."

Read it for yourself here.

"One anonymous commentor today stated said that Dan Seals has about as much foreign policy experience as any ten year old that just came back from Christmas vacation at Epcot."

I don't think that's fair, Epcot has a lot of countries not just Japan. Also, any word if the 10 year old is calling himself a professor? He does go to class everyday.

I appreciate the support. FOOTLIK 2008!!!

Illinois GOP joins Jay Footlik?

Strange, I haven't heard Jay Footlik say anything on this topic.

TA, it's frightening to wander over there on Ms. Shrill's Blog......That woman is way over the top, must sense that her Dan idol has feet of clay. The Shrill woman is truly heading for a serious breakdown as this election cycle moves forward. Congressman Kirk is poised to get out there and defend his record of achievements and define his positions that have earned him the respect and support he has received in record-breaking amounts to date.

As to predicting tomorrow's results.....I'd say that Footlik will garner about 38% of the vote out here. As for Obama.....I think the Trib is spot on.......it's about 2/1 in his favor in IL. But TA, it's a LONG way from tomorrow until the election is over next November.

Anon 3:53- Footlik's campaign is on the record. Check it out here. Why Footlik has never done a press release or really pushed this issue 100% is a mystery to me, which led to my earlier questions as to whether Footlik was really playing this game to win.

Call me crazy - but i'm guessing Hillary gets a bigger piece of the Illinois vote than predicted. She has a strong, but not necessarily vocal, base of support here - I'd love to see mid 40s but think high 30s is more likely.

Seals wins by 12 points thanks to a lackluster Footlik effort.

And to the north Bean trounces in the Dem primary while Greenberg ekes out a win in the Rep.

Team America said...

Thanks UM- I think that anything less than 60% for Seals is a serious sign of vulnerability given Footlik's campaign issues.

Anonymous said...

If Seals doesn't take 70% amongst a democratic base that has already chosen him twice, there's something wrong with him.

Anonymous said...

UM, while I like your optimism I think that the Obama-mania plus the hype from the press will, indeed, make that 2/1 in his favor in IL. What IS scary is the national trending to Barak overall. It looks like the McCain 'train' is rolling right along. My bet is that it's Obama vs McCain in November.

Out here, TA is right. Seals should have been able to get 65% of the vote or more. I'm betting that Jay Footlik will surprise many with the kind of support he's going to get from many who have finally seen what Dan Seals is all about: a guy who can't get a job, hold a job, can't deal honestly with people he thinks can't put 2 and 2 together. People in this district respect honesty. "professor Dan" gets an F when it comes to truth in advertising on every issue. Let's see who comes closest to being right tomorrow night.

So- I hear Seals is going to be an election judge tomorrow. He probably needs the money plus then he can say he's a "local offical". Hopefully he works the right district- not his home one.

Team America said...

Anon 7:00 p.m. - where do you come by your info? Do you know which county and which precinct?

I simply cannot believe even Seals would be THAT stupid.

Well, maybe I should give him the benefit of the doubt.

Anonymous said...

I don't think he can be an election judge where he is on the ballot. So, I guess he can be an election judge in his own precinct. One more line for the resume.

Press release looks like it was written by a college republican but at least someone over there is finally showing a heartbeat.

Now if they could pull their heads out of their assess and start defining Dan so Mark doesn't have to go negative we could get somewhere and build some insurance in case o-verrated obama wins, we would have a halfway serious party.

As for tomorrow, to cut the bull shit, Mark needs Mac to run away with it so the party unites around him and starts to kick ass and take names. He needs hillary to win big so that obama can't lead the ticket and crush him down ballot here.

Dan or jay it doesn't make a difference, same district neophytes-anti-bush talking points who will get a bit of national money and raise 2-2.5 million to his 4 and try to keep the race focused nationally.

Anonymous said...

You can see the update to his resume starting on Feb 6th.

Recent Experience:

Unemployeed - dates vary; call for references.

Professor - not until April 2008 (you know the story here)

Judge - February 5, 2008 thru February 5, 2008; responsible for enforcement of key local and FEC laws against Jan and her convicted husband; responsible for keeping heavily-fined former Dem Congressional candidates in check (hi LBG); stood around all day looking like Barry; chose peace over Israel, again; changed everything; told everyone it was time for change; made everything better, in the 9th District; wore my "I love the lonely cat lady" tee shirt; and uttered the phrase "immediate withdraw from Iraq" to every potential voter, until a Marine kicked my ass.

All this random stuff is great but it means squat if team kirk and the state party don't use it to frame the narrative we have all somewhat bought to put dan in a box early and bury him 6 feet below.

Mark will pay with his career november 4 given obama's rising strength if he doesn't have a plan in place welcoming dan with a nasty press release highlighting what we all know to be true that he's a blago clone, taking money from nameless faceless national special interest groups-daily kos, downtown lobbyists-see all those law firm checks-and still outside the district.

TA next crusade is getting him to release his taxes-this is a common yet successful tactic to ferret out his financial position to see where he's been getting his dough the last 4 years while running to beat team kirk.

He won't release them-we know what he's hiding-story stays in the papers and soon we have delivered a lot of free nasty press about also ran dan to a greatful fearless team kirk.

Team America said...

Anon 8:52- I think you're right about the next crusade. We'll need something to keep ourselves out of trouble until November since Footlik will be a fond memory.

I'm also thinking about starting the Team America's Blog Store, with wacky T-Shirts the big first item.

ICBPOTUS's idea of "I Love the Lonely Cat Lady" is a great start.

Also, how about "Seal: It's What's For Dinner in the 10th District"

Maybe we'll do a post on that looking for other ideas once things calm down from the primary.

Is it just my IP address, or has EBG shut down all posting on her site?

I know I've been pro-Footlik, but seriously. How can someone with the page motto "Using my free speech while I still have it." block people who disagree with her?

If she's so confident in Seals, why silence Jay fans?

Anonymous said...

I love the release, TA!!! Good on the party for finally taking a stand for Kirk. It's kind of cute but biting -- I hope it gets picked up by the MSM. I've never heard of this Traver guy but he's a great writer.

As for predictions...Seals over Footlik 63-37. I'm not ruling out the possiblity that it gets closer because there must be a reason Seals got scared and started blowing his wad on expensive mailings to all voters in the district. He was hoping to cruise by Footlik without spending money but something in his polling must have spooked him.

Obama 53, Clinton 43, others 4. Obama will slam dunk up the Chicago area but Clinton will dominate downstate and remain competitive in the suburbs.

McCain 46, Romney 35, Huckabee 15, Paul 4

WOMA- I went back over to Ellen's and it appears that your post on Ellen's Top Ten Reasons to Vote for Dan Seals (gag me) is still up, but I assume you could not post to the top post on Obama- it appears she doesn't have comments enabled for that post, which is unsurprising, since she simply wants to spread propaganda, not monitor the blog and eradicate any actual intelligent debate by deleting comments on a case-by-case basis.

A fairly typical reaction by Ellen. I recall that she would not let TA post just before the general election in 2006 and then denied she ever deleted any of my posts (this was obviously months before she booted me entirely last October). So, once again, the self-proclaimed defender of free speech is too chicken to allow it on her own blog. Cluck, cluck, cluck...

The only candidate with a background in the private sector? Doesn't Footlik own his own business?

Has Dan Seals ever held a job for more than a year?

How many languages can the Pup say, "would you like fries with that," in?

P.S. What precinct in the tenth district does the Pup vote in? I wonder if he and Shakowsky share a polling place.

EBG has also started deleting posts from Greens pointing out the hypocricy of Dem rhetoric.

ICB Potus - Time for you to start your blog so you can get in on the T shirt deal--I'm all in for the idea. Cafe Press can do it, TA.

Mark doesn't ever have to mention Dan. He's the incumbent and Dan is the easier candidate to beat between him and Footlik.

Predictions: Obama and Seals 2-2 1/2 to 1.

By the way, Dan was at the train downtown tonight.

And on a sad note, Mark's dad passed away this morning. Info is here http://www.pioneerlocal.com/wilmette/news/776419,wi-kirksdadobit-020408-s1.article

I hope everyone who knows Mark will make best efforts to attend his dad's service. I imagine it will be at Kenilworth Union. We need to be a strong source of support at a difficult time.

Hold onto that latest Seals mailer since many of us don't receive them. This guy is pathetic. One can clearly see that one lie begets another and he clearly can't "shoot straight" on any level. All of this needs to begin to get out in print in the mainstream media beginning tomorrow. He might win against Jay Footlik, but Dan Seals is the biggest loser in life. This time Mark Kirk needs to take off the gloves and let voters in this district know what's really behind that slick talking wannabee.......Dan Seals isn't a has been, he's a never was.

Anonymous said...

How can you say Dan Seals is a never was? He changed the district in 2006. He changed the lives of THOUSANDS of Japenese children and Northwestern students. He has changed the way business is run and done.

LMAO - nevermind, he's a pup.

TA, EGB has been letting me post and allowing others to rip on my postings in comments sections. Now all her comments sections are being blocked. Perhaps she is out running around today knocking down Footlik signs! : -)

Perhaps you should wear a different cologne? -:)

Lou- I predict it's only a matter of time before EBG gives you the permanent heave-ho just as she did me, after she figured out she wasn't winning the debate. But, when that fateful day arrives, you have a home here, no need to start your own blog for an outlet, unless of course you want to.

Cologne? What's wrong with High Karate?

As you know, it's like 9 on 1 over there when you post. Like talking to the brainwashed. Republicans are evil and Democrats are sainted. Republicans are corrupt and Democrats are good government types.

At my precinct voting site this morning a Footlik supporter was complaining that their sign in front of the polling place vanished and a Seals sign took it's place.

Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!

How scary. Did he have his video camera?

And, did you watch your ballot actually go into the machine to make sure it was counted?

No camera, although i considered asking him in a conflict between iran and israel if he would come down on the side of iran.

Vote for Seals. All unemployed people in America should have a job.
