While Obama Plans to Rob Our Kids and Grandkids, Rahm Plans to Steal Your Vote

While most of the country is preoccupied with the debate over the great Generational Theft Act of 2009 and how Obama answered (or didn't answer) questions in his first prime time press conference, something much less obvious and potentially more sinister is happening behind the scenes of the Obama administration.

Quietly, very quietly, Obama has decided to move responsibility for the next U.S. Census (you know, that exercise every ten years that tells us how many congressmen each state is entitled to, and how federal dollars can be allocated for many programs)
from the U.S. Commerce Department to... yep... the White House. And who's going to be in charge of this formerly non-partisan government responsibility... yes, that most partisan of partisans... Rahm Emanuel.

Why is the politicizing of the census function taking such a high priority with the Obama administration that it is being done in the first three weeks? How about worrying about Iran or North Korea?

Thankfully, GOP congressmen from Utah are trying to blow the whistle on this scheme before it's too late. Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah,
told FOX News on Monday that "This is nothing more than a political land grab."

The Fox News article that first alerted me to this issue also had this:

"The last thing the census needs is for any hard-bitten partisan (either a Karl Rove or a Rahm Emanuel) to manipulate these critical numbers. Many federal funding formulas depend on them, as well as the whole fabric of federal and state representation. Partisans have a natural impulse to tilt the playing field in their favor, and this has to be resisted," Larry Sabato, the director of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia, told FOX News in an e-mail.

"I've always remembered what Joseph Stalin said: 'Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything.' The same principle applies to the census. Since one or the other party will always be in power at the time of the census, it is vital that the out-of-power party at least be able to observe the process to make sure it isn't being stacked in favor of the party in power. This will be difficult for the GOP since I suspect Democrats will control both houses of Congress for the entire Obama first term," Sabato said.

What prompted this move by Obama? Most likely he or some in his administration may have had second thoughts about Obama's appointment of a Republican senator, Judd Gregg, to the post of Commerce Secretary. As noted in the Fox News article:

Critics note that the method of counting can skew the census. Democrats have long advocated using mathematical estimates, a practice known as "sampling," to count urban residents and immigrants. Republicans say the Constitution requires a physical head count, which entails going door-to-door.

Gregg, the new GOP appointee, is against 'sampling'. Curious, there was not talk of moving the census responsibility when New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson (a Dem) was to be in charge of Commerce... But now, this change is a top priority of the Obama administration?

Dear Leader takes control, comrades. Welcome to Amerika.

Obama "answered" questions?

You mean Obama filibustered questions!

In the special election, to replace Emanuel, the best candidate is Rosanna Puldio, the founder and director of the Illinois Minuteman Project. Please read her site, www.rosannapuldio2009.com.

Watching Charlie Rose last night one of the commie liberals from the new york times made a great point-Reagan faced a similar crisis in 1981 and his party took a thrashing despite his popularity at the polls in 1982.

Too bad his holiness Andy McKenna can't put a team on the field to take advantage of this ongoing democratic disaster.

As the 2nd most highranking Republican in the chicago metropolitan area it would also be good to see Mark take 5 minutes to put his head above water on these issues. If you want to be senator you can't be anonymous.

You can't have double jeopardy...Bush already robbed your children and grandchildren and Kirk helped!

Bush didn't rob your children - Obama and his team of Fannie and Freddie friends did it. I love the way he whines, "I inherited the financial crisis we are in from the prior administration's fiscal policies." Kiss my A...

Can you imagine if Bush stood up after 9/11 and said "I inherited this group of terrorists from Bill Clinton's administration..."

Barack - Grow up! You wanted the job - now do it! If you can't - just admit it!

Dude....you live a sheltered life....take off the blinders...never in the history of this country have we had a sustained...get it sustained...not bubble...prosperity in a Republican Administration. Let me re-phrase that..the last 100 years because prior to that Republican philosophies were really what Democrats subscribe to today.

I love revisionist history buffs, even the ones who post here.

(1) No sustained prosperity under Republican policies.

(2) All Republican policies are failed policies.

(3) Cutting taxes to spur the economy never worked.

(4) Republicans need to get over the fact that they lost the election and get behind Barack Obama.

Those seem to be the top arguments right now in the other camp.

They are right. I'll get behind Obama the same way as those Gore and Kerry supporters got behind Bush. Just like the Gore and Kerry supporters got over their losses.

And those economic boom years? Forgotten by the revisionists. Economic boom years brought on by reducing taxes? Forgotten also.

Now they are playing FDR and using government to end the recession. They forget that although FDR tried real hard, the depression persisted until WWII.

At least Obama knows that the country demands an immediate fix to the economy. When that immediate fix doesn't happen, will they blame the Republicans for that too?

Right on, Lou, as usual. Now that Ellen Beth SHRILL won't allow comments, all the nutjobs seem to want to rant and rave over here on TA's Blog. Funny thing about this is their lack of FACTS. But Lou, keep on setting the records straight. Sure wish she'd let her loonies back over there and soon.

DMAC57, it looks as if you haven't heard of Ronald Reagan. While he was president, the unemployment rate, inflation rate, and interest rates decreased.
