More on the Broadway Bank--Giannoulias--Rezko Connection, and Alexi's March 2006 Statements

Fox News had a piece on the Broadway Bank-Giannoulias-Rezko loan issue, and cited the 2006 Windy City Times interview of Alexi that we here at Team America first brought to the surface this past Monday:

h/t Illinois Review.

Greg Hinz also touched on this today:

The Sun-Times on Monday had a big story about a Broadway Bank loan to a partnership including Rod Blagojevich crony Tony Rezko in February 2006. Team Giannoulias responded that he was campaigning full time for state treasurer at that time, having taken a leave of absence from the bank in September 2005.

Problem is, it turns out, Mr. Giannoulias was quoted in newspaper clips well into 2006 as talking about his work at the bank —in the present tense. And, as it turns out, the on-leave Mr. Giannoulias still got a $40,000 paycheck from the bank in the first half of 2006.

A campaign spokeswoman responds that the leave was a paid leave — from his father's bank.

Expect to hear more from Team Kirk about that one.

Yes, Greg, and from Team America, too...

Yup. Just about interest here as there is on IR.

Tell you something yet?

"Just about AS MUCH interest here as there is on IR."

Anon 2:10, sometimes things are so obvious no comment is necessary.

As to IR, you may have noticed that over at IR, most of the time comments are low except when Kirk does something that the right-wing crowd sees as going off the reservation, since many of their following hate moderate Republicans much worse than liberal Democrats.

=since many of their following hate moderate Republicans much worse than liberal Democrats.=

Really? And just how many of them do you and Kirk's "staffers" know in this state to even make an accusation like that?

Anon 8:11, I just call it like I see it based on the comments and the patterns. There are probably lots of folks that read IR that don't fall into that category, but they aren't the ones who comment voceriferously. Nothing gets those blog commenters going like a Kirk vote or decision that they believe goes against the grain.

Call me stupid, but what the heck is IR?

Every time a conservative uses the term RINO, we see how little some members of the right are willing to accept moderates.

The million dollar question:

How do you define "moderate", A. Bees?
