Can It Get ANY Worse? Dan Seals' Patron Charlie Rangel Calls Sarah Palin "Disabled"

Given Dan "A Gaffe A Day" Seals' recent woes over the Tammy Duckworth van-gate issue (and the memories that dredged up of Seals' other media fiasco, his inept gas-for-votes stunt), he really doesn't need any 'guilt by association' problems. But, Seals has shown no desire to distance himself in any respect from New York Congressman Charlie Rangel, who has now been in the news for weeks over a variety of tax scandals and housing issues. You are known by the company you keep, Mr. Seals. And you, sir, have so far taken in over $50,000 from the out-of-state Mr. Rangel (making Rangel your biggest donor to date) and shown no inclination to return this tainted money. It's so bad, even other Dems are beginning to abandon Rangel and return his contributions, but not Seals, despite challenges by this space and others to do so.

The latest scandal concerning is that loose-mouth Rangel on Friday called Alaska Governor Sarah Palin "disabled," in reference to her foreign policy experience. Rangel not only used the word "disabled," he confirmed that was exactly what he meant, after the news reporter (who was understandably incredulous) asked him to confirm it.

Check it out:

In a CBS 2 HD exclusive interview, Rep. Rangel called Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin "disabled." The question was simple: Why are the Democrats so afraid of Palin and her popularity? The answer was astonishing.

"You got to be kind to the disabled," Rangel said.

That's right. The chairman of the powerful House Ways & Means Committee called Palin disabled -- even when CBS 2 HD called him on it.

CBS 2 HD: "You got to be kind to the disabled?"

Rangel: "Yes."

CBS 2 HD: "She's disabled?"

Rangel: "There's no question about it politically. It's a nightmare to think that a person's foreign policy is based on their ability to look at Russia from where they live."

Wow. That's bad, even for Rangel. Although at least he didn't use the word "retarded."

Rangel finally realized his serious mistake after the interview (no doubt after a staffer explained to him what he'd done) and tried to say that he used the wrong word. But, the damage was done, and if you look at the transcript of the interview, there is no doubt he meant what he said at the time. It's especially stupid considering that Palin is the mother of a child with Down Syndrome.

Keep going, Charlie. You are doing Mark Kirk a great favor by staying in the news headlines, and Dan Seals is playing right along by taking Rangel's money. Seals is hoping the voters of the 10th District will ignore the crap that keeps coming out of Rangel's mouth and not make the Seals-Rangel connection.

We're not going to let that happen.

Note that Rangel withdrew his divorce petition last week, afraid his wife would testify that she was not responsible for his income tax evasion.

Sickening that while Kirk has blasted members of his own party that violate the law, Seals is silent on lawbreakers who are Democrats.

Guess it makes sense when Seals chooses Bob Creamer to train his staff (two felonies), Terry Link to organize his campaign (campaign indicted), Lauren Beth Gash to organize outside support (two huge FEC fines) and more.

Dan even watched Tammy Duckworth break the Illinois ban on using state cars for campaigning at his own event.

Even Attorney General Madigan had to open an investigation of Seals ethics during the last campaign.

I find it distasteful that Congressman Rangel could be so hurtful and inappropriate. I wonder how Dan Seals plans on dealing with this matter. Isn't Rangel one of Seals' close advisors????

I'm still waiting to hear Seals or his friends comment on the ill advised statement by Ms. Duckworth regarding the VFW during that press event. To make little of the VFW, the Vets you're supposedly representing, is just plain stupid and arrogant. And yet, silence. I don't understand it. And as for Charlie Rangel's tasteless, careless and thoughtless comment about Sara Palin. It's not a surprise coming from his mouth. Yes, TA, you are known by the company you keep and Seals has shown who he is, over and over.

Let's have 3 cheers for Dubya and our idiot congress! They're about to tank our currency with a huge bailout. I'm guessing Kirk will vote in favor of it. Seals would too. For people with advanced degrees, they seem to know surprisingly little about economics.

Anon 10:41, and what would your solution be right now? While not a perfect solution, to not intervene brings our economy and each and every one of us to the brink. Is that your solution? I hope not. Go back and ask yourself about the lending practices under the Clinton Admininstration that began the allowing of borrowing by people who didn't have a prayer in hell of paying it back. Go back to the Alan Greenspan policies that played fast and loose with our economic situation. No, the bailout in not idea, but neither is the total economic collapse of our economy. I'm anxious to hear your ideas for halting what surely would have been Black Friday had Bush and some solid thinkers stepped in to put a bandaid over a huge and gaping wound. Let's hear your solution. Oversight and some sound financial policies are long overdue. Yesterday.

When are the Kirk people going to start refuting some of the pup's lies about the Congressman. When is KFC going to start bringing the news of Seal's contributors, i.e., Rangel, Creamer, Rosty and link him to the sorry crew of Illinois Democrats. I admire that the Congressman always takes the high road but some of this stuff has to be brought to the attention of the voting public. I keep seeing letters to the editor from one of Seal's supporters -- the local papers publish more of his letters then anyone else's and his letters get pretty negative about MSK and even our national ticket. When are we going to fight back. While it's great that this great blog gives us so much info as to what the other side is saying and doing how many people who are democrats or independents even know what's really going on? When are we going to publicly fight back?

Anon 2:21, even Kirk could always do more, I suppose, but I think he's doing a LOT. He has a fact section on his website that's excellent, and which goes into great detail to debunk all the lies Seals is spreading, not to mention all the radio and TV Kirk is doing. In addition, the LTE campaign is one of the best I've seen- in this morning's Daily Herald, for example, there were THREE outstanding letters in support of Kirk (including a very detailed one on Kirk's strong Israel position) and NONE on Seals. Seals' LTEs are usually limited to "he's a really nice guy, you should vote for him" or "he's taught English in Japan, so he has worldly experience" or crap like that.

In sum, I think Kirk is fighting bayonet to bayonet in the trenches, so the blood is flowing, and will continue to until we emerge victorious in November.

The NRCC had a conniption two years ago with Republicans who thought that they could Rose Garden their way out of challengers. Too many Republicans were caught fighting fire with nerf guns, and as a result those members are now the local scholar in residence and law partner in random towns accross America. Dan will run George W. Kirk ads and Barack Seals ads against Mark starting now, and Mark has to do better than I saved a tree.

Good sign, Dan is getting trashed in the yard sign game along sheridan road.

Not even close.

Also will be tough to go after Dan since people like democrats unfortunately, and all he's really done in life is graduate from college , lose his job and lose elections.

My best bet is Israel, the Rostenkowski thing and whatever people hate about democrats right now.

Seals cannot do anything against lawbreakers who are Democrats.

He never has offered a critical comment about a single Democratic lawbreaker.

Seals supports partisanship over the law.
