The Dold Bus Makes Its Reappearance With House Minority Whip Eric Cantor to Kick Off Final Election Push (UPDATED)

As I predicted it might, this afternoon, the Bob Dold campaign bus reappeared to kick off the final election push to maintain the 10th Congressional District as a GOP seat, with House Minority Whip Eric Cantor as the special guest.

Dold and Cantor addressed a crowd of over 200 supporters and volunteers at Dold's campaign headquarters in Winnetka. Dold's consistent theme has been getting people back to work in Illinois, which theme was emphasized by Congressman Cantor.

The Dold Bus will be making stops criss-crossing the 10th District from now until Election Day.

Here's Bob with one of his kids getting ready to address the large crowd.

Bob and Congressman Eric Cantor wait to be introduced.

Bob makes his case to the crowd.

Eric Cantor explains why we need Bob Dold in Washington.

UPDATED: Read some analysis on the prospective Cantor visit with Dold here from The Hill:

The No. 2 ranking House GOP lawmaker’s appearance in the Democratic leaning district comes less than two weeks since The Hill released a poll showing GOP candidate Bob Dold trailing in the race to replace outgoing Rep. Mark Kirk (R).

GOP insiders familiar with the party’s strategy to defend the open seat say that new polling numbers, an influx of cash and a reorganized campaign focus capped by Cantor’s visit point to positive signs for Dold.

TA,
I am really disappointed and shocked that you would be supporting a radical candidate like Dold. I can understand you being fiscally conservative (despite the fact that I disagree strongly) but I find it shocking of how any educated person would support a candidate that is supported by radical groups who want to take away the right of choice for women. Dont tell me he is like Kirk. He is not. There are many links on previous postings here establishing the differences, and even FOLKLEAPS calls him on that.

So here is my question to you. Do you support the right of choice for women? Do you believe that women deserve the freedom of making decisions about themselves? If so, how can you be supporting a Sarah Palin-like or Christine O' Donell-like candidate with bizarre ideas? Dold is very similar to them.

Blue. GIVE IT UP. Bob Dold IS pro-choice. How many times do you have to be called out for stating such a blatant falsehood. Dold's position is EXACTLY that of Kirk and Porter before him. NO FEDERAL DOLLARS to pay for abortions, but YES, a woman and her physician make that choice, NOT THE GOVERNMENT. I attended this outstadning rally. The crowd is energized and ready to help get out the vote for a man who will represent this district in the manner of Kirk and Porter. The last thing any district needs is someone like Seals. Just give it up, Blue. In 9 days the voters will speak and the voters will decide. It's a shame that you can't respect what a man says rather than accepting what some group had to say about him. Bob Dold does NOT support taking away anyone's right to making their own choice.

I was with Bob Dold this morning while he was greeting voters in Libertyville. A woman asked him directly about his position on the choice issue. He looked her in the eye and responded "I AM PRO CHOICE." She thanked him and walked away. In nine days, Bob will suceed Mark Kirk in the 10th. Blue, go blow away.

Stop lying. You can not make up facts. Take a look at the link below from this blog what FOKLEAPS posted yesterday. FOLKLEAPS is a republican and he acknoweldges that Dold does NOT have the same positions with Kirk.

Again, take a look at this . From that link:

Robert Dold, a Republican who’s running for Mr. Kirk’s north suburban congressional seat, publicly asserts he’s pro-abortion rights, but he keeps being endorsed by anti-abortion groups, the most recent being the Illinois Family Institute.

The key abortion question on its candidate questionnaire relates to proposed federal legislation to require that providers speak vividly to mothers. The proposed script for doctors includes the line, “There is substantial evidence that the process of being killed in an abortion will cause the unborn child pain, even though you receive a pain-reducing drug or drugs.”

Mr. Kirk said that he’s against the proposal. Mr. Dold, the self-proclaimed Kirk Redux moderate, said that he’s for it.

Dold is supported by the radical anti-choice group for good reasons. He apparently supports some of their bizarre anti-choice positions, like the one above that will force gynecologists to say such things to women. He has similar thinking to Sarah Palin and Christine O'Donnel. Simple as that.

Apparently you missed today's NY Times. Bob Dold doesn't have the same position on abortion as Mark Kirk.

Because this sounds an awful lot like Mark Kirk's position.

With all this brewing, the candidate brings in Eric Cantor-- who has a 0% NARL rating and is as PRO-LIFE as it gets.

Not good optics. I know plenty of pols who shake their fingers and look people right in the face as they lie (or try to dig out of having prostituted themselves to get the GOP nomination). Both bad.

The only thing radical around here is the stench spewing from Bowel Wind.

Dan Seals hides in his cave preparing to follow Nancy Pelosi towards Soviet Style government in our country. Bob Dold is out listening to voters. Bob has outworked the lazy unemployed Dan Seals and will prevail.

ANON 3:35 AND 3::38

That's a mature, learned response. The one I'd expect in an elementary school playground.

10th voters want authenticity, more now than every. The abortion topic is a non-issue from a policy standpoint for the next Congress, but how Dold-- a new person on the scene handled it-- was critical to his integrity. The voters can judge.

Once again, I reiterate that you can boil all the bs down to a simple single question:
If elected would you vote for Pelosi to be Speaker?
Bob's opponent is an obvious YES and Dold is NO.
The choice is simple - Pelosi must GO!

ps. It was a great noontime rally.

ANON 3:35 and 3:38,
When you can not argue facts and your statement that Kirk and Dold have the same position on choice is proven to be a lie, you resolve to name calling. Then you start making bizarre comments about Pelosi wanting to establish a Soviet regime in this country. I am not surprised you are Dold supporter. You sound like someone with Sarah Palin/Christine O'Donnel type political education and ideology.

I am still surprised and disappointed though that someone like TA, who I really believe is socially liberal, will be willing to support someone as radical as Dold, simply because he is a republican. Dold is not electable in IL-10 no matter how much money he raises and spends. Freedom of choice for women is a not negotiable in this district. FOLKLEAPS got that right.

geez, when u fall back on the line that we need to stop pelosi you've conceded the independent vote or enough votes to lose.

It's like, "yeah, he's deceptive, but he's our guy."

Teach your children well big guy!

I have followed Bob Dold since early in the primary season. He is socially moderate and pro choice!

The fact that some on the hard right chose to support him is probably because they would prefer a true moderate to a flaming Schakowsky style liberal pretending to be a moderate. After all, 2 years ago Bob's opponent tried to portray himself as Obama's Siamese twin surgically separated at birth.

Bob is not deceptive it is his opponent that is the chameleon.

Blue, where did you get any idea of what my personal social beliefs are? You most likely can't tell simply on the candidates I support - folks from Kirk to Dold to Sugrue.

Perhaps, much like people did with Obama, you are simply projecting onto me what you would like to believe.

Blue,

I said he was stupid and his campaign foolish. In the hill today, they said there had been a campaign "shakeup" and kelly klopp was not listed as the campaign flak anymore. draw your own conclusions.

Dold has taken a slam dunk race and turned it into a 3 point heave down 2 with 5 seconds to go. Hopefully for team america he's john paxson in phoenix in 1993. we'll see.

he's not a radical. If you look at voter ratings, he and senator elect kirk-did I speak too soon? are actually the left wing of the republican party and the center right wing of the democratic party. A guy who is more giannoulias smart than kirk smart? Yes. Radical? No.

It's worth noting that on gays, dold is to the left of obama, on guns and abortion he's to the left of 1998 democrat gubernatorial nominee glenn poshard and where durbin was as a congressman, not to mention senate democrat leader harry reid who is both prolife and pro 2nd ammendment.

I don't give advice to democrats but it's time for you guys to give lauren beth gash a heave. If you look around the country most areas like this are solidly democratic now and she's lead you on a decade of failure. I realize she's your momma donkey, but the crap you spew and the horrible candidates you've put out-her, blago, stroger, suffredin, alexi, biss, pup, footlik, link ect. You should be embarrassed.

This conversation is comical. Bob Dold is supported by pro-life groups because, unlike Dan Seals, doesn't believe abortion should be as easy to get as s Big Mac. None of those groups are happy with his position, but compared to Seals, Dold is the lesser of two evils.

My question for Blue Gas is why you support Dan Seals. He's backed by radical progressive groups such as hate, I mean, J-Street. Maybe it's because Dan doesn't have a mind of his own and just does what Jan Schakowsky tells him.

I find nothing comical about rape or incest or a woman's right to choose. Roe v. Wade is the law of the land. Anyone who believes otherwise or tries to supplant it does not represent the majority of people in the US or this district.

Dold is a minority, religious zealot who is trying to enforce his beliefs on us. He's not fooling the intelligent people in this district.

Blue Wind said...

Anon 9.05,
Exactly. Dold is a Sarah Palin/Christin O Donell like candidate. If he was really pro-choice, he would have denounced the radical anti-choice group that endorsed him. He did not. That says it all. He is as radical as they are.

To all the anons who seem to think Kirk and Dold agree on Choice let me ask you this:

How many times has Mark Kirk been "recommended" by these socially conservative groups?

I think you'll find the answer is 0.

So if these guys have the "same" position, why is it that the IFA, IFRL, etc. have decided to support Dold this cycle, but have never been with Kirk?

Anonymous said...

Because dan burton, Dold's old boss, told them too?

This stinks to high water.

Frankly, I don't think Dold is a radical righty. It's all about getting the big office and assuming enough people can be gamed in the process. You need to be Machiavelli to play the game, not be running a junior high campaign.

I'm just skipping this part of my ballot on 11/2. Clear conscience.
