For those of you keeping track, this strong endorsement of Congressman Mark Kirk over his opponent Dan Seals should seal the deal for Kirk: News-Sun, Pioneer Press, Sun-Times and now the Trib.
[Kirk is] one of the most thoughtful, independent and effective members of the House. Kirk is a leader on environmental issues, including the protection of Lake Michigan. He is a strong advocate for embryonic stem-cell research. He's a workhorse on local concerns, known for having a diligent staff. Voters should look beyond partisanship and embrace their pragmatic, get-it-done congressman. Kirk is endorsed.

A well earned endorsement for the Congressman. The pup should take the Tribune's advice and run in the 9th District. Everyone needs to get out and help Mark during the next 14 days!!!
I agree 150% and more, Anon 6:37. Endorsements don't vote, only voters can vote and we need to get out every last voter to secure this win two weeks from today. But the Tribune endorsement is outstanding and points out that Mark Kirk is the independent leader we know him to be. One more to go with the Daily Herald. That they endorsed Link makes me ill and it's only 6:45 a.m. Let's just re-group and work to get out the vote. Nothing else is thinkable right now.
ANON 6:37 Thanks for your comments. Can't understand the Herald's support of that looser.
Tribune: Seals is a loser who doen't even live in the district he wants to represent.
They got it right.
Also interesting to note the endorsement of his staff. I've never seen that before -- ever. Maybe they saw the DCCC hacks trolling on TA trying to take shots at Kirk's team....
Revised summary of Tribune endorsement: Kirk rocks, so does his staff, Seals is a loser but is still better than Schakowsky.
game over
Just in -- the original working draft of today's Tribune endorsement had another sentence after "known for having a diligent staff."
"In stark contrast, Patrick Mogge and Lis Smith have run the sloppiest, mistake prone and downright embarrasing campaign -- botching a campaign gas-giveaway, breaking state ethics law with a Blagojevich appointee and letting a 9/11 conspiracy theorist star is a TV ad. On principle alone, we cannot endorse a candidate with such poor judgement."
LOL, Anon 1:53. It's always interesting to see what ended up on the cutting room floor. ;-)
Finally returned to visit the catwoman site and wow! Off the deep end would be an understatement right now.
It seems with each passing news endorsement calling Kirk a thoughtful independent, she shrieks a little louder.
Too bad she is shrieking to herself these days.
Louis G. Atsaves
With such a large undecided pool of voters left this close, you have to believe a lot of voters were waiting to see the Tribune endorsement. I expect the next polling will show a smaller number of undecideds with a large break toward Kirk.
If Kirk is smart, he will make sure voters know about this ringing endorsement every day through E-Day.
the loud meow is the sound of catwoman hugging it out with defeat.
Here's another reason not to vote for the McCain-Palin ticket.
Anon 8:39- and your link has what to do with Congressman Kirk's endorsement? Please go back to ObamaforAmerica.
But, while I did go look at the link you provided, I guess my immediate reaction was that the MSM apparently has lots of time to investigate Governor Palin and how many parking tickets Joe the Plumber has since they can't be bothered to keep abreast of breaking news in Senator Obama's own hometown--not when the issue is Obama's association with Tony Rezko.
Hey TA, why not suggest to Anon 8:39 that he peddle his comments on that other blog since nobody is bothering to do so anymore. I'm sure that the catwoman would love to have that malcontent back on her disgruntled team.
In the meantime, you've got to love what House Race HOTLINE had to say about Mark Kirk's continuing string of amazing endorsements. If you're a subscriber, TA, why not share it with your readers. It's outstanding. And I think everyone will love the comments that go along with it. I'm still enjoying the Tribune piece, complete with Mark's picture, today. Win, Mark, Win.
Anon 9:48- your suggestion to give Ellen some more traffic is excellent--it certainly seems like the conversation over there has dropped off dramatically since Kirk's string of endorsements. Although, I also think Ellen kicking off pundit Lou Atsaves also has a lot to do with it--apparently she didn't learn her lesson a year ago when she kicked me off. No one wants to just hear echoes of the same tired talking points being repeated back to you (except Ellen). After a while, even the zealots get tired of the same old stuff over and over and over...
As to the HOTLINE, I will not paste their content here beyond the generally accepted principles of fair use--they choose to charge for their service and I respect that. It's the Barack Obamas of the world that think that anything that anyone creates of value or works hard for should be taken away to "share" it with those who are too damn lazy to work for themselves. Not signing up to that philosophy, but I know you didn't mean it that way.

hotline is pretty witty, they are classic poli sci harvard lampoon geeks with great 80's rock references.
nationaljournal.com, amy walter basically says sayonnara seals.
All you have to know about how morally bankrupt catwoman is, she claims to care about free speech, then limits it when the Lou Astaves of the world knock her down.
The rubber room is just too hard.
Also Jeff Berkowitz, a good observer of this race and local politics currently thinks dan's campaign is dead.
